Would you take a FT job....
...knowing it is not something you would be happy with just to support your family? I work in the healthcare industry and I am also a certified teacher. I got excessed as a teacher, however I still work in that school district in a health care position.
I just got offered a full time job solely in health care... It will be a prety good salary, but I am trying to get out of health care totally.. Becaus of all the liability and other things, I don't have the confidence, nor stamina, to be involved in health care like I used to...
Knowing I have a newborn at home, would you take a job that will make you unhappy just to be able to support your family? Normally I would take it since it's a job which is hard to come by these days, but I don't think I should take this particular one.. What would you do? I know it's a pretty simple solution, but I just wanted to see what other people thought to make sure I'm making the right decision. Thanks!

Re: Would you take a FT job....
Nope. I would take a job that allowed me to support my family, and meet our needs, as well as save some $$$$ each month, but my happiness and sanity is not worth following the $$$$.
It wasn't a huge pay-cut, but I asked for a demotion from a supervisory role after my son was born back in December. The hours, the stress level, the duties and everything.............it just wasn't worth sacrificing my family for, because everything was seeping into my personal life.
I now have much better perks such as being able to work from home if I want to.
Family comes first now.
BTW, I also work in the healthcare field so I think I can identify quite well where you are coming from.

Re: Would you take a FT job....
No unless I HAD TO.
If you want to be a teacher then stick to it because the healthcare job would take you AWAY from it and it will be even harder to go back to teaching. By that I mean, your experience would only go towards healthcare. It would not help you with teaching experience and it may even deter people from considering you for a teaching job.

Thanks! I ultimately told my boss I wouldnt take it, and that I would just stay part time with him, since I worked so hard to get into the teaching field.. I appreciate your response - I know I did the right thing for my family
