Really freaking out and scared
The other day I noticed I kept getting a chill sensation on my upper left thigh. It would come and go within seconds. I did not have pain it just felt very strange.
Well last night I had them again and this time they were much worse. I noticed that every time I got that sensation I would get a small patch of goose bumps on my thigh and then they woulf disappear.
Hours into this, I started feeling as if both of my upper legs were tingling or even feeling slightly numb.
I do have terribly anxiety and thought maybe it was being manifested in my head so I took a xanax to see if the feeling would go away and it did not.
I was so scared I kept debating going to the hospital. Finally the xanax made me pass out and I slept very soundly with no knowledge of my leg sensations but the second I woke up I was flooded with anxiety and now feel the legs again.
I have been looking this up online and have seen everything from seizures to multiple sclerosis, to nerve damage.
The only other symptoms I have is I was just diagnosed with GERD.
I am sooo scared and it is really effecting my life in many ways. Anyone ever have something similar or have any thoughts for me?
I have an appointment for a complete physical on Wednesday and will definetly be telling the dr about it.
sorry so long TIA

Re: Really freaking out and scared
Do you think the anxiety can be making it worse? When I have panic attacks - my legs get very tingling, heavy, and numb feeling. Extreme anxiety also led to my GERD I believe. The constant nervousiness is a lot of wear and tear on your stomach. Now that I have my anxiety semi-under control, my GERD has disappeared. I've also noticed that when my anxiety is very bad, I have extreme medical fears and I am very in tune to every little thing my body does. I too have spent countless hours online looking up minor symptoms thinking that they were huge deals. I know it's annoying to hear, but try to keep yourself busy and your mind off of it.

I definitely think the anxiety is making the sensations worse. The more you focus on something- the more it will happen.
I know it's hard not to worry about it- but try to keep calm. and STAY OFF THE INTERNET!!!!
I learned that the hard way...
I'm sure everything is fine

You sound like me...STAY OFF THE COMPUTER!!!
Oddly enough I posted something similar several months ago. I have bad anxiety and had tingling on my scalp for about 3 weeks. Once I went back on Paxil it went away within a week. I get occasional numbness and tingling from anxiety and it freaks me out.
ETA: Mention it to your dr. and if you feel better see a neurologist. That's what I did and after examining me he wrote me a new prescription for Paxil

Re: Really freaking out and scared
I think deep down I know this is all anxiety, but when the physical symptoms hit and that OCD takes over it is so hard to get out of the cycle.
I thank you guys for your comments.
I have a physical on Wednesday so I will bring this up and see what the dr says.
Thanks again
