I picked up my boss' phone and the guy on the other end asked for one of the other assts that covers for me.

He is looking for the person who replaced another employee who handles a certain department. (very senior level person) I explain to him that it's not our policy to give out that information. As I was about to ask what the call was about he asks to speak to the other asst who he says was going to find out the name of the person for him. He asks to be put in her voice mail. I calmly explained to him that it would do him no good since....(trying to tell him the policy of the firm..etc..)

....he interrupted me by telling me he doesn't give a sh!t what I think and I should put him into her voicemail.

I told him I don't think he knows who he is talking to (I'm the gatekeeper for that department) and I said goodbye and hung up.

The policy of the firm is not to give out names and titles and such and to take the information and direct it to the appropriate people and have them follow up with the person who called. They do follow up regardless of whether we will need that firm's services so it's not like the calls go into a black hole.

My boss would be the one who decides if we needed the services provided by this firm ultimately after the vetting process. Needless to say, they are done. He really shot himself in the head.

I think this guy needs another job.

This was a phishing call. A call to extract info about a firm. Sometimes they resort to profanity to intimidate people into giving info.

Good thing they didn't intimidate me. I can curse with the best of them.

"I don't give a sh!t what you think." Now that's a first.

btw-we have ways of tracing the call. This particular one was a skype number so we don't have a trace but we're working on it.
