Has anyone ever had a bone marrow biopsy?

I am having one today at 4. I have a low platelet count that has been monitored for a year but there is nothing they can do to fix it. So this is just another test they are running but I am so nervous.

Shots dont normally bother me , esp since I have had so much bloodwork done in the past year but it is something about the needle going into my hip bone that just gives me that weak feeling!!!!!

Can anyone share their experience. And if it is going to hurt, just tell me. I have to get it done regardless

I would think they would give you something to numb the area first.. I had a spinal tap in June and while I know it's not the same, the dr gave me a shot to numb the area first and I didn't feel anything..

My mom had it done and they numbed the area first. FM me with any questions.

Yes, I had a bone marrow biopsy when I was 7. I have chronic low platlets and a condition called ITP. FM is you any questions.
