Bump near ear along jaw line
I have a hard bump about the size of a dime that suddenly appeared next to my ear along my jaw bone.. It is not under the ear or near my neck but next to the ear... It hurts when I touch it and although u cant see it i cant even lay on that side of my head cause it hurts to much. I am nervous of what this is and calling the dr. tomorrow. I have been putting warm comprsses on it and it doesnt seem to have any effect. I feel slight pain in my ear and last nite i noticed my jaws felt really clenched.. i read this bump may be from tmj, does any1 have experience with this? I am so nervous it is something awful

i sometimes get swollen glands that sound like that..and even just an infection (when im sick i get pus filled bumps that go away on their own with the sickness.) i usually get the bumps before i even know im sick.

I've had what sounds like something similar. I had a pretty bad infection and it actually caused a few lymph nodes to swell. Definitely consult your doctor. Once i started taking antibiotics the lymph nodes went back to rest. Best of luck!

wow girls thanks, i m going to the dr tomorrow..if it is an infection--this will be the 3rd time in three months i needed antibiotics for soemthing, i feel like im always sick and there is a bug in my bod i can not rid myself of.. i will see what he says, ty again for the responses

Sounds like a blocked salivary duct. There is a major salivary gland, the parotid, that can become blocked and can become firm and tender. Is there any pain when you are eating? Hope you feel better!

So I went to the Dr. and it turns out my inner ear canal is majorly inflamed. Man did I scream when he put the little scope into my ear. I got some drops that I have to take 3 times a day--hopefully this will work b/c I am going on vacation in 2 weeks and I am scared to fly to begin with, let alone having ear issues.

I happy to hear it was nothing major!!! I'm not downplaying your pain, but i know you were afraid that it was something worse. I hope it clears up soon and you have a great vacation! Where are you headed?

to be honest the minute i foun d the lump i was terrified i too am glad it was just ear related and not something worse, so i thank u for ur concern :) we r going to las vegas (me and my boyfriend) for the first time ever...we r excited, but being sick is definitly not on the agenda, flying and an earache is so much worse too lol
