Friend's FB Post: "Feels badly for people that don't know the joy or pride of having kids."
My comment: don't feel bad for me...i know the joy of doing whatever the hell i want instead ;) haha
This was a guy friend who posted this.
Someone else had posted: Even though I am someone who has a picture of their kids as her profile picture, I think you have to be careful here. I can definitely see the pros and cons of having kids. Its not for everyone. for all the pride and joy, there are also a lot of sacrifices and heartaches and I try not to judge anyone's decision in the matter.
Thought it was interesting...
ETA: my friend just messaged me saying his status was aimed at someone in particular who was obnoxious to him...interesting.

That's a great respsonse! It was so diplomatic.
I also think your friend could go about getting at his obnoxious friend then putting down or feigning pity for people that don't have children in such a public forum. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of his friends found that type of status offensive.

I really LOVE your response
I think your friend's status was inconsiderate because he doesn't know the reason why some people don't have kids & it could upset some people to hear him say that.
If anyone told me they feel sorry for me because I don't have kids, I would just have to

Ouch!
If your friend's comment was supposed to be aimed at someone specific, then maybe they should've been more careful not to make it such a general statement. Or hey, they could try not posting passive-aggressive things on FB at all! But I like the other person's response about not judging either way...

Re: Friend's FB Post: "Feels badly for people that don't know the joy or pride of having kids."
Depending on who it was, I wouldn't have been so nice. Probably something like "the people *I* feel badly for are the parents who teach their kids intolerance for people who make different choices than they do"
People just don't think how their words are going to affect others sometimes, I know. I'm just so tired of being pitied.

Wow, wether its directed to you or not, its so rude to post something like that.
I have a bunch of "friends" on facebook with new babies are some of their posts are nauseating. Like they are in the inventors of motherhood.

Yes, I have read some lovely gems such as, "you will never know love until you have a child", or "life is meaningless without children", etc etc
whatever

Re: Friend's FB Post: "Feels badly for people that don't know the joy or pride of having kids."
Here is a post on my facebook, he just posted it.
"wants to know what you are most grateful for? I'm most grateful for my son Daniel. No words can explain being a parent"
someone responded
"I'm sure your son has changed the way you look at life eh?"

Re: Friend's FB Post: "Feels badly for people that don't know the joy or pride of having kids."
I think you should friend the person with the "be careful. . ." response if you aren't already friends with them.
They sound like a reasonable person!
I think I am really fortunate to have the friends I do. Theya re all really honest & non judgemental. They post pictures of their kids, the funny things they say/do, but also the frustrating things, and about them not sleeping, being sick, again!, etc.
