Am I being irrational? - UPDATE AT BOTTOM
DH's cousin died on Monday. They are having a service for her in Ithica tomorrow morning. DH said he is going to go but the kids and I should stay here since he will only go up for the day and come home and it would be easier on all of us not to load 2 kids into the car and drive 6 hours each way. I agree with that part but as his wife shouldn't I go along? I mean it is his cousin and I do know his aunt, not well, but I do know her... Opinions?

Unless there is someone that you can leave the kids with then you can go with him but if not then you should stay home. I'm sure his family would understand...

Ok, if we were all going to go we would leave tonight and come home early on Saturday morning since my DH "works" at a golf course at noon.
My mom would also come with us so she could stay with the kids while we were at the service.

it this the cousin that died in a bad way? I would stay home with the kids. Maybe DH needs the solo car ride to get any emotions out. I don't think his aunt will be looking for anyone, and they will just be glad you DH made it.

I understand that 
That's a tough one, I would want to go to be with my husband, but at the same time I know that my kids would be bananas in the car for that long in one day. It depends on how you think the kids will do.... I'm going upstate this weekend - you can leave them with me

We're taking the kids to Jellystone in Woodridge - Mallory and Jeremy can stare at each other and poke each other in the eyes and Jordan and Emma can run laps

Wow, when is your DH leaving for the service? I've got to say, I went 2 weekends ago and the construction around the bridges wound up taking me an hour longer than expected.  It's a LOONNNGGGG trip. It took me 6 hours, without stopping once, and I am probably 45 mins. closer than you are to begin with.
