Mets fans...
must be finding themselves in a peculiar spot right about now...
can't root for the Phillies as they are your arch rival
can't root for the Yankees because, well, you obviously don't know any better  jk
but seriously....this must be weird for you.
It would be like a Bosox/Mets WS ala '86 for us Yankee fans. I would watch but couldn't actually root for either team

this matchup can't get any better from a mets fan view.
 
however.. i am rooting for the Phills.. becasue i dont know any personally where as there are yanks fans all over obviously and we wouldnt hear the end of it..

I hardly think Phillies/Mets is a rivalry for the ages. What, just because they've been a good team for the past couple of years and the Mets collapsed (on their own) in 2007 and 2008?
I'll be rooting for the Phillies.

i just HATE how cocky they are.. drives me nuts..

I refuse to vote for Philly. I am a die hard METS fan and will be voting for the Yankees. I am from NY and by the Yankees being in the world series it will bring money to NY the bars, restaurants everything will be busy during this time and our economy definatley needs that!

yeah, it is weird this year, but this time i will be rooting for the yankees for two reasons:
1. DH is a die hard fan and while I will also be a Mets girl, I am learning to appreciate the Yankees. Say what you will, but they are a great team. No other team in baseball has the history they do.
2. DH once pointed out to me that the Yankees just don't care about the Mets and the more I thought about it, he's right. As a Mets fan, I always used to make such a big deal about how I hated the Yankees, but you never hear Yankee fans saying that about the Mets. Honestly, they just don't care because their real rival is the Red Sox. I think all Mets fans should take all our anger we direct to the Yankees and direct it towards the Phillies (more recent rival) or the Braves.

Ugh, I dont know. I'm a National league girl, and will usually root for the National league team regardless of who is playing. Plus I despise the Yankees, for numerous reason that I wont go into here
But I do understand the excitement, and it is good for NY. I will probably just bury my head in the sand and wait for it all to be over.

I'm making a brief cameo appearance on this one - since I'm not really on much LOL
Here's how I see it - I hate them both.
BUT...
if the Phillies win, the title stays in the NL and in the NL East - gives the league some prestige. Plus, when they win, I'll only have to hear about it for one day - the NY media won't cover the story beyond the winning of the series.
if the Yankees win, this isn't just a day-long story. There's the win, the parade and an entire offseason of gloating from my Yankee-loving family that I have to deal with.
So, I'm a Met fan first, National League fan second.

i just feel its different for a met fan..
yankee fans go on and on about their history , and championships.. so we get it rubbed in our faces most of the time..
but as a met fan.. what can we really say to a yankee fan.. so i still could careless about rooting for the home team.. i HATEEEEEEEEE the yankees..

The rivalry probably started in 1980 when Philly won their first Series ever after over 100 years in existence.
After a Phillies win against the Mets, one of them said, "Today we played like the Phillies and they played like the Mets." Obviously, this didn't go over well!

I agree, it is different for a Mets fan. Recent history has the Yankees as THE New York team, and the Mets are kind of an afterthought. It wouldnt really cost Yankee fans anything to root for the Mets, because there is no real threat there.
Now if it were 10 years ago and they were playing Atlanta, then I'd probably root for the Yanks (actually, I did 10 years ago when they played Atlanta). But I feel like there isnt really that much of a rivalry between the Phillies and Mets of late, since the Phillies are a much better team. Its not like the Mets were contenders this year and collapsed at the last minute
