Thanks for the replies!

Re: Not sure how to proceed...
Wow you have a lot to consider and my thoughts are with you!!! I would say that if the medications are making you feel like crap, not yourself, etc then they aren't worth it. What's the use of having your hair if you don't have the health to enjoy it? That being said I can't imagine what you are going through and wish you all the best. Try to remember that your health is the most important thing, and if you want to start a family then I would say go for it!

Re: Not sure how to proceed...
first
second you need to evaluate everything and weigh the pros and cons of the meds vs no meds and so you can make an educated decision......
some other points to mention is with being run down and tired and not sleeping your entire body does suffer, ex. you wont heal as quickly from injuries, your immune system will decrease, your hormone levels will be more difficult to regulate
all things to think about esp if you want to start TTC
good luck with whatever you decide and please dont let this illness defeat you

Re: Not sure how to proceed...
First of all congratulations on your marriage! Second, for you, so sorry you are going through this. Is the hair follicle issue the only thing this disease causes? If so, and you are feeling awful on this medication, and you want to start thinking about a family, then maybe you should consider stopping. Only you can decide what's best for you and your health. Hair loss is cosmetic, although loosing it is traumatic for women.
btw i'm gray at 34 and have seriously considered a wig at this point i refuse to dye.

Re: Not sure how to proceed...
I have androgenic alopecia and was put on a certain BC to stop my hair from falling out. The BC raised my blood pressure and was giving me palpitations, so after over a year I decided to stop. I feel back to myself now. My hair is on a falling out haitus, but it usually comes back with a vengence. When it was really bad I went to a specialty wig booth in Tri-County to "prepare" myself and was actually pleasantly surpriised by what they had there. The girls there were so nice and it was very private and discreet. It took my a long time to choose my health over my hair, but it was the best decision for me...

I'm not in your shoes so I can only guess what I'd do.
If it was a foregone conclusion that I was going to lose my hair permanently & soon, I don't think I'd continue the medication. It sounds like it's taking its toll on you both physically & emotionally & the results sounds temporary.
I know this is a lot easier said that done but I'd opt for a wig & try to come to terms with the hair loss.

Re: Not sure how to proceed...
As sad and depressing as hair loss sound,s I agree with Barb. If it's just postponning the unevitable, then I would stop now.
I know it's hard for women to deal with hair loss and I am not in your shoes but your health is more important. Especially if you are going to lose your hair anyway.
Maybe try that place at the tri county fair someone mentioned. Get a wig, and try it out. Get use to it until it's time to wear it FT.
