Homeopathy? -- update
A friend of mine recommended that I look into this since I've been sick a lot this year.
I personally don't "believe" in it, but at this point, I'm desperate to try anything.
Would love to get some advice/advise from anyone that has looked into it, is under treatment, or someone that did look into it and found that it was a crock?
Update!
So, I just wanted to thank Kathryn for posting her experience and how I should check out an ENT.
I was diagnosed - have a deviated septum, polyps, and then a bunch of allergies. I was given a shot, some medications (nasonex and a generic claritin) and I'm back there in two weeks to see how I progress.
They also recommended that I get a HEPTA air purifier and a humidifier. I purchased them both and it's seriously helping. I can breathe a lot better and am a lot less congested than I've been in MONTHS.
I'll keep y'all posted about my progress and what happens as the next appointment and what's going to be done about my deviated septum and the polyps.
Thank you again for your advice and concerns!!!!!

Re: Homeopathy?
i don't know much about it, but i CAN tell you that I have excema and other weird skin conditions... i saw a general practitioner, 2 allergists, a dermatologist, and an endocrinologist and was prescribed steriod creams, pills, ointment, antibiotics, etc etc etc.
I did some internet research and found that tea tree oil was found to have results. I bought tea tree skin wash and oil from www.puritan.com and within 2 WEEKS I was clear! I can't even tell you how much money i spent on Dr visits and meds, and a $5 bottle of skin wash clears me up?! i use it every day and no longer have issues.

Re: Homeopathy?
well, is there a specific avenue of homeopathy that you are considering? do you mean herbs, acupuncture, reiki, etc?
i've explored different things and while it may not completely solve an issue, it greatly benefits it.
it's a very interesting world - alternative medicine.
if you just feel generally kind of "blah", perhaps you could alter diet, excersise, vitamins first?
can u mention what kind of health issues?

Re: Homeopathy?
what kind of "sick" have you been? I was always sick for years...colds all the time..at the Dr all the time for sinus infections, antibiotics, went to an allergist who said i don't have any... finally went to an ENT who diagnosed my issues as a variety of problems in my nose...deviated septum, turbinates, etc...had surgery and it changed my life...i get maybe 1 or two colds a year now...not sure if this helps..hope you feel better! It can be so frustrating!!

Re: Homeopathy?
What kind of treatment are we talking about? I use homeopathic treatments all the time, specifically tissue salts.

This is me to a T. I am constantly stuffed up, congested, sinus infections, coughs which later develop into bronchitis. It's as if I have a cold every other week.
Perhaps I should go to an ENT. I did have severe problems as a child (adnoids/tonsils removed/ear aches) and it's quite possible I have something going wrong there.
I just assumed that I'm constantly sick with a cold b/c of my environment and never thought that -- thank you so much!!!

My health issues have really been broken down into having a cold every other week -- constantly congested / runny nose / cough.
I've seen doctors, allergists, and to no avail have they been able to help, or they prescribe me something and I clear up to only get it again a week/two later.
I did see a nutritionist as I too felt rather blah and altering my diet/exercise/vitamins (take a one-a-day women's + calcium/vitamin d on a daily basis) and it didn't work!

Re: Homeopathy?
hmm..that's strange.
i'm assuming you've had all the necessary bloodwork to rule stuff out, right?
where you work/sleep - is there any dust, etc? ( i work in a dusty environment and swear i feel worse there!)
does anyone else have this problem in you family?
i am intrigued...
..alot of people swear by acupuncture. i have my appointment on wednesday. i go to james shinol..he has a few offices on LI (thinkacupuncture.com) a few people on here reccomended him..
i hope u feel better soon!

Re: Homeopathy?
I used to get 5-8 viruses a year. However, I haven't been sick or even mildly 'off' since I began taking an oral probiotic (not just acidophilous), an Omega Oils Combination and a solid multivitamin. That was almost 2 years ago. The probiotics are key. 80% of your immune system is contained in your intestines. Keeping the good bacteria plentiful works wonders for fighting off disease and illness. There are NO negative side effects either. It's worth a shot, especially before considering something as radical as surgery.
