crashing - ring insurance

Do you guys have your rings insured?

If so, through who?

I don't and had a horrible scare yesterday when I went to wash my hands, took them off, and walked out of the bathroom.Chat Icon

needless to say, ring insurance is on my mind!!

Thanks!

Re: crashing - ring insurance

if you own a house you can put it under your home owners (or renters ins) at the time we got engaged we were both living with our parents so we took out our own policy with jewelers mutual. We went to Jewelry Judge on old country rd and and had it appraised and they had the applications there for the insurance.

Re: crashing - ring insurance

I never insured mine. Maybe not the smartest idea but I figured I won't loose it. If I loose it we'll never be able to replace it since it was the price if a new car!

Re: crashing - ring insurance

I would highly recommend anybody that has your rings insured on your homeowners policy to remove them and go with a separate jewelry policy like Jewelers Mutual.

Why would you want to do this? Because you really do NOT want to have to file any homeowner claims unless you absolutely have to. Once you file a homeowners claim, it goes on your insurance record.

It's bad enough that insurance companies are dropping clients left and right for pretty much no reason. Don't give them an added reason to do this by filing a homeowners claim over a lost engagement or wedding ring.

Re: crashing - ring insurance

my ring is insured through Jewelers mutual. As far as putting under homeowners insurance I've always heard bad things about doing so, and that it may not be covered for the full amount of what it is worth

Re: crashing - ring insurance

We do them , SF and do them as seperate policies so there is no need to have an apt, own a house and it can be fully covered or have a deductible.
