Re: not sleeping
I'm so sorry. I hate when I can't fall asleep. Try getting up and drinking a little wine. You could watch something on TV or read a book to tire your eyes and maybe distract your mind from thinking about your dad.

Re: not sleeping
I lost both of my parents by the time was 30 yrs old. I was not sleeping - I was alone in the house and so scared and upset. I drank chamomile tea, and do not laugh- unless it will make you feel better... watch the crawl on the bottom of CNN, I am not sure if CNN has a crawl, but I am sure the other news stations do, it made me sleepy I think because my eyes got tired from watching the crawl. When all else failed I took benadryl. When it was really really really bad the dr. wrote me a script for a tranquilizer- which I broke in half and it made me too loopy and I did not like the way I felt - so I resorted to doing what I did and it worked. Try to get some rest, I ran myself down and almost got pneumonia- the dr. said I was 1 step away from the pneumonia, and ordered me to bed for 2 weeks- I was so sick. If you need to talk FM mail me. Feel better- I am so sorry for your loss.

Re: not sleeping
I am so sorry for ur loss.
When my dad passed t was always harder to even deal at nite. When the world is quiet all u can do is think.. Half the time I would just cry myself to sleep.
Some thing I tried was getting super involved in a tv series. I would watch episode after episode of tv shows and movies to get my mind to think about something else..
When I couldnt sleep I would visualize putting all my sadness and worries into a box, that I could reopen in the morning just to try and give myself a mental break.
