I wouldn't freak out. Newborns tend to sleep. A lot. I would just let him wake when he does, and then deal with the long night. At 2 weeks old, there's not much more you can do!

Id leave him. Maybe shut off the swinging of the swing if you want him to wake up soon?

I agree. When Jackie was a newborn, if she was still asleep in the swing when I was ready for bed, I would carry the whole thing (without shutting it off!) into our bedroom and just deal with her when she woke up.

Agreed! Hope tonight isn't too bad--that's the worst thing about newborns--you never know what you're in for!

This is what I used to do if I needed them to wake up. But I'd let him sleep.

I'd lay down if I were you and just wait for him to wake up. He'll wake up when he's hungry - in the meantime, try and get as much rest as you can!

I would probably try and feed him now being it's been over 4 hours.

Can you feed him without waking him up? If he's still sleeping, he most likely needs it, so I'd let him sleep! But you can do a dream feeding to make sure he eats.

At two weeks old, the ped said to wake DS every 4 hours to eat if he didn't wake up on his own. HTH!

We never woke DD when she would have those marathon naps. Your DS will wake when he's hungry.

we never woke up ds either - ds used to sleep 5 hrs at a clip sometimes when he was 2-3 weeks old. i was concerned and asked the ped. he told me i was one of the lucky new moms to have a newborn sleep that long btwn feedings LOL if ur ds is sleeping let him sleep - try to catch up on ur z's as well. when ur ds is hungry he will wake up - most likely famished

I used to wake DD every 3 hours to feed her. She was three weeks early though and would sleep all day and night. She also wasn't gaining weight at the beginning because she would sleep when I tried to nurse her. If you DC is gaining fine then let them sleep, otherwise you should wake them to feed them.
