I will leave at 6:30 and try to get out, if I can't then oh well  I'm not going to risk it for the DOE. I have a nasty commute.

..and thus, our identities as babysitters is confirmed...I am going to have to make a tough decision..I don't live around the corner from my school, I don't take the train (if I could even get to it and it would run!) and I value my safety...

Glorified babysitters!!!! He doesnt even take into consideration that we dont have parkinig lots and its near impossible to get a spot after a snow storm. Most people havent even dug out yet!!!! UNREAL!!!

he pisses me off because all he looks at it is how manhatten looks.. well manhatten is different.. they make a better effort to clean it up and melt the snow piles.. do they do that in queens? no walking and parking is going to be out of control.
if ALL NYC teachers stick together and all in. he will have to close

TOTALLY NOT going in tomorrow! We should all call the UFT and issue a complaint that if you live far and cannot get there we shouldn't be penalized!

I am seriously considering not going in tomorrow. I am six months preggo and live in Centereach. Once I get into Penn I then walk two avenues and take a subway. My mom is flipping out that I would even consider going in. Hopefully DD's daycare is closed and I wont have to make the decision.

Honestly, I think you should stay home too. I am really going to try to go in myself- it's a short walk from the train for me- but I know I will be thanked with a coverage. But you need to take care of yourself first.

I think the outer boroughs are considered secondary and tertiary. Lovely. I would be curious to know how many NYC teachers commute from Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland counties. If we are out, nobody is there to cover the kids. Then the admins will have to.
