dealing with a moody boss

I've worked with my boss for almost 3 years now. There are days, even solid weeks that she is fine to work with. We work as a team.

Then, there are the days or weeks that she is unbearable. Critical, snappy, demanding and rude.

I don't know what to do besides just focus on my work and do the best I can do.

Has anyone gone through this before and if so, how did you get through the bad days?

It seems like you're doing the best thing, just trying to stay focused

I worked for a monster lady and when times got really bad I would just walk away from my desk. My co-workers would cover for me.

In some strange way it also helped to know that it wasn't just me, she treated everyone like that.

I have that now. She is a wonderful person and smart and powerful in the firm. She knows when she's being a b!tch and sometimes fesses but she's been a bear to me recently.

I just try to do my best. That's all I can do.

I have a boss who is similar. Like a previous poster said though, it helps me in a strange way to know they are like this with EVERYONE.

I also do not know if this is an option for you, but I try to be in the field visiting clients, or working from home when I can so my time around them is limited.

I also do a lot of my paperwork in advance so I don't have a lot of ammunition for them to give me $hit about.

A couple of the ladies I work with are always behind on their work, so therefore, always getting a worse kind of hell from them. (Not saying this is your situation but something I noticed in my office).

I ignore. They have become ridiculously unreasonable. An example:

Currently my boss (who has morphed into a monster) is in Australia. What's the time difference, 14 hours?

Yeah, if you email me incessantly between 3 pm and 6 pm down there, it's the middle of the effing night here and I'm SLEEPING. Try to legitimately complain about that, please, I dare you.

I'm just putting my head down and not saying anything. It's only a matter of time for them...

I am currently dealing with this. If there's one piece of advice I can give you, it's to PICK YOUR BATTLES. Go in do your job, and try not to take their rantings personally. You get far fewer gray hairs that way.
