HAve you/Would you ever contact DH boss?

I'm wondering if I should call this girl and at least TRY to get the SAT off so we can drive together and tell her that my family was hoping to do a small baby shower and that this is the ONLY time I can get off my job.

This REALLY is the only time I can get up there before the baby comes.....and I hate that I might be going alone

I wouldn't. I would be a little embarrassed if my DH called my boss. If I were your DH, I wouldn't bring it up to his boss again and just plan your trip and have him call in sick on that saturday. Hope it works out for ya!!

Re: HAve you/Would you ever contact DH boss?

the only time I ever intend to contact DH's boss is for his 30th BDAY party. The boss is invited, and also attended our wedding, so I feel *somewhat* comfy sending him an email, asking him to make sure that John stays at work until at least 3 pm on the day of his party, and maybe to ask if John could use a vacation day on that Monday.

No, no, no. Nothing says your DH lacks balls like going to ask his boss for time off for him. IMO. Chat Icon What does he think of your plan? My DH would be so humiliated if I ever did anything like that.

I would have DH talk to her again. Let her know that he doesn't want you traveling alone and that 'they' are having a surprise shower and he wants to be there. Is there someone that can cover his shift?

Chat Icon Sorry. Still recovering from my weekend and not wanting to be here! Actually, maybe DH should have called and asked for today off for me!

I do only because I am friendly with his boss. I use to work there. But under different circumstances, DH would be furious if I called a boss that I was not friends with.

Re: HAve you/Would you ever contact DH boss?

well since he's a MGR in training (technically, he's been a mgr for the company before) he has NO SICK TIME TO TAKE.

He's lucky he's got the 40 hrs to take for vacation.

AS far as someone covering his shift...they are already short staffed.....

I KNOW people are up to something, and I guess I'm going up to NY alone and hopefully he'll be able to meet me up there

Re: HAve you/Would you ever contact DH boss?

I only would call his boss if I was planning a surprise for him.
When we got engaged, he called my boss and got me off for the weekend (back when I waitressed as a second job). So he really surprised me when he said we were staying away for the weekend, because I thought I had to work the next day! I thought that was so sweet. And work was happy to have been a part of it alsoChat Icon

Definitely DON"T call his boss in this situation. Maybe have him try to explain to her again why there is such short notice, offer to work OT or extra days to make up the time when you return from NY.

I sgree - I did the same thing a few years back when I flew FI's parents in for a surprise. When I revealed that they were in the next room, I also informed him that both he and I were off the following week (I had conspired with his boss for months).

If it were any other situtaion - absolutely not!

My cowrker's husband did that once, for a surprise, but we are a small place & he knows the boss form our Christmas parties, etc.

If DH has asked for the time off & can't get it, then I don't think you asking would make a difference, anyway.

Re: HAve you/Would you ever contact DH boss?

Absolutely not. It would embarrass him and make me look a little looney, I think. As a mature person, and a responsible employee, he needs to take care of it himself.

There is no way I would do that. He's a grown man and knows what he needs to do and what can be done. I know I would be mortified if he called my boss to do the same thing.
