Just Saying Hello...

I recently rediscovered this board and am a little surprised by the tone of some of the posts and yes, even "drama." I have to admit, I curbed my posting here because it is a public forum and I really didn't want a vent or even a rave to be etched eternally into the cyber world. We have to be so careful about how we portray ourselves publicly. There will always be someone who can "discover" you--it's kind of scary. In so many ways we really ARE part of this very old-fashioned way of representing ourselves. We could even be the last true role models for children today.

It seems that there are a lot of passionate teachers who post here and I love that! I have been a teacher for ten years and it is such a part of my identity that taking a sabbatical this year was really tough to swallow, but I knew that it was important for me and my DD to have this time off. I return to school on April 19, and I have to say that I haven't once thought about my return to the classroom in terms of numbers or days, I just know that I have to return. It's sort of natural for me.

Anyway, there is no point to this post except to say hello and know that there are more of us out there who are reading (though it has been a while for me and I am a very active poster) and yes...watching...

Hi there! Hope you are enjoying your leave. Both of my leaves were bittersweet. I loved and valued the time with both babies knowing they were months I could never get back. It's a different world to be a SAHM. I am back full time now and love it, but it's quite the balancing act.

I worry SO much about being "discovered" by a parent or whoever on this board and really think before posting, not just on this board, but all of them.
