Re: Anyone else having/have identical twins??
First, congrats and welcome! :)
-i am expecting identical twin boys.
I don't understand why the doc would scare you? Is it the identical pregnancy itself or the after pregnancy?
I don't think there is too much except the shock of it lol and for it to settle. Of course there comes fear with the pregnancy since its two n possible complications.
So far at 22wks. All has been going well for me. All tests have been excellent and I feel good :) and well BIG!

Re: Anyone else having/have identical twins??
Thanks! He said something about how they are in one sac and he really wants to see a membrane form between the two of them w/i the next few weeks or else we have major concerns. He says they can mess with each others cords and get all tangled up and what not. So of course I am a nervous wreck. I guess the whole mono-mono twin thing is what hes talking about. I am going for another sono again tomo and have my fingers crossed for better news! I know there are many possible complications and that scares me.

Oh gotcha. Well if it is monoamniotic twins yes there can be complications but there are plenty that are born and ok. You will be watched closely. Actually if I'm not mistaken someone on lif, drmatt, may have mono twins. GL! Hang in there.

Re: Anyone else having/have identical twins??
Identical twins are high risk because most share a placenta. My identical twins were mono-di's
Not to scare you but to let you know how instantly things can change I had a Dr's appointment on a Friday. He marvelled how well I was doing (he specialized in indeticals). Well 3 days later I went into labor at 30 weeks. My babies were born a 2 lbs 101/2 oz and 2 lbs 11 onces. They are now one and perfect.

Re: Anyone else having/have identical twins??
I had identical twin boys and they shared a placenta but had their own sac. It is riskier but not uncommon for them to be in the same sac, but they will just watch you closely. I had my boys at 35 weeks and one was smaller then the other and spent some time in the NICU but they are both happy and healthy 4 year olds.
Good Luck and Congrats!!!!!

Re: Anyone else having/have identical twins??
first off, congrats!!!! i know how exciting AND scary (and SHOCKING) it can be.
i am 23 wks PG with mono-di twins. i was so scared initially bc the dr didnt see a membrane and of course i started googling and reading things i shouldnt have been reading. you should know that the membrane is so thin, it is almost impossible to see before 10 wks. bc they share a placenta you will (should) be monitored more frequently. i am having complications with this PG but it is bc of my incompetent cervix, not so much bc they are mono-di twins.
good luck!!!!!!

Re: Anyone else having/have identical twins??
Congrats!
I had mono-di twins and if this is what you have you will be monitored very closely throughout your pregnancy. Sharing a placenta has some risks, but 90% of the time everything goes fine (mine were healthy)
If you have mono-mono twins - no membrane - you are riskier, but I think I remember that 50% of these pregnancies are okay too. You most likely will be watch like a hawk and be on bedrest at the end. Also , this is VERY RARE to occur.
Also, my doctor did not see my membrane until 10 weeks so if you are really early, he probably can't see it yet. So don't start to worry quite yet.
Good luck!

Re: Anyone else having/have identical twins??
My girls are identical and were monochorionic diamnionic....
Mo Mo twins are definitely a risky thing. Most sets of Mo Mos require hospitalization at some point in the pregnancy for constant monitoring...
Im sure you will see a membrane as your pregnancy progresses...
