Dogs eating poop

hmm there was a thread on this not too long ago. Lemme see if I can find it.
OK cannot find it. One of the ways is to make sure the pup is getting enough food. I know it sounds silly, but sometimes they are just hungry. Another thing you can do even though it is gross, is to make sure that all of the food particles are being digested properly. If you see bits of food that are identifiable in the poo, then it might look attractive to your dog.

When dogs do this, it has alot to do with the food they are eating and how much they are digesting.
If alot of the food is coming back out in the dogs waste because it isnt beiong properly digested, they think its still food and eat it.
What kind of food are you feeding your dog?

Molly used to do this all the time. I would just yell at her when she would go towards it - it passed THANK GOD -- but I am not looking forward to it when this new puppy comes along --- it was SOOOOO disgusting.

Our dogs eat IAMS Puppy. They seem to eat enough and digest so I don't think that is the problem.

My vet told me to put cayenne pepper on theri poop and they will never eat it again.
i dont watch him all the time and dont feel like following him in our yard when he does it

you can also try meat tenderizer, sprinkling a little over the food apperantly when it comes out has a bad odor that repels the dogs away.

When I brought this up to my vet he also recommended putting meat tenderizer in the food - apparently it makes the poop taste bad (how poop could taste worse is beyond me!)
