Kidney Stones???
Anyone have any experience with kidney stones? I have a question for you. I know a lot of people say it is very painful and comes on suddenly. HOwever, I was wondering if anyone had experience with it that it was painful but bearable and lasted a long time.
I started getting lower right side back pain about 2 months ago. Thought it was gas, then maybe a pulled muscle. It comes and goes throughout the day. Lately I have noticed that I have a lot of bubbles in my urine when I pee so I finally gave in and looked that up on the web and they said that is a symptom of having protein in your urine. I finally am giving in and going to the doctor tomorrow to get tested. But I was thinking that it might be kidney stones, that just have not passed or are small in nature. It's more of a dull ache on my right side that moves around a little.
Any advice or experience with this I would appreciate it.

Re: Kidney Stones???
Everyone is different. I've never had them but DH has. 4 times. Each time he had to have them zapped. In his case, he would be in excrutiating pain for a day ot two and then it would pass. Thery were always too big for them to pass on his own. He was in terrible pain and vommiting.
That is usually when they are moving. It's possible that yours is tiny. There should be small traces of blood in ur urine that I think only the Dr. can see. GL!!

Re: Kidney Stones???
My mom has the same symptoms with hers. She has a dulling lower back pain for weeks.. its really terrible. This is because hers causing her pain while in her kidney. My pain is more lower front because its from them passing down the tube into my bladder (mine are very small). Its weird how it is different for everyone.

Re: Kidney Stones???
I had kidney stones 8 months preg
I agree w pp that everyone reacts differently. I had a contstant dull pain in my mid left back.
Wound up being in hospital for a week and had to pass them (5) without any pain meds.
I hope you dont have them
But if you do, Im sure there are alot of options for you to have them taken care of without pain.
Good luck

Re: Kidney Stones???
I have a 5 mm stone just hanging out in my left kidney...
Right after my DD was born, I had that dull ache too. It got worse, and I would take Advil and it would get better, for a bit. But then I started to get sick, ran a really high fever (105+) and when I got into my doctor, he found my blood pressure dangerously low, so I was off to the ER. Then admitted, and it turns out I had a severe kidney infection (and yes, a stone too, but the infection and the stone had nothing to do with each other).
I spent a week in the hospital, trying to get the fevers down, on a high does of Levaquin (antibiotic), etc. Not a fun week!
Seems like your catching it soon, I hope its nothing!

Re: Kidney Stones???
Thank you all for your reponses. I have an upper UTI infection that is in my kidney. I had no thought it was a UTI because I thought you got all those symptoms like painful urination, etc. Apparently an upper UTI can only present aching pains. They have me on Cipro. The pain is less worse this week but still there...hoping this does the trick.
