EXTREME back pain - UPDATE
On Sunday, I was loading the dishwasher
when I stood up, I felt a pop in my lower back and immediately had pain
yesterday this pain intensified and currently I am having pain in my lower left back, left butt and my thigh...also, I am having pain which is radiating towards my pelvis
any ideas what this could be? I have an appointment tomorrow at the ortho
UPDATE - I have a herniated disc at L5....I am going for an MRI next week and then we will determine the course of treatment

Re: EXTREME back pain
Maybe a slipped disc? My mom has them and get pain like your describing. And it happens the same way, she is bending over and as soon as she stands up she feels the pain and knows her disc is out.

ITA...hopefully it's nothing too serious.
Steph, do you have a good Dr.? I've been to see quite a few back Drs. in this area, and I can recommend a good one if you need. Feel better!!!

Re: EXTREME back pain
the pop makes me think something tore. when i tore the tendon in my ankle - i heard that pop too - i thought i had fallen on a tree branch and broke it - but there was NO tree branch....the doctor later told me that was the tendon snapping.
i hope you get some relief...

Re: EXTREME back pain
Sounds exactly like the pain I had 2 years ago. It was my lower back, butt and thighs. I had prior back issues, but the pain was due to Spondylolisthesis. That means my discs are deteriorated, vertebrae is slipped forward, and I have a fracture in the vertebrae.
Definitely go see an Orthopedist that specializes in spines. Dr. Agulnick in Garden City is great. Hope you feel better soon!
