Dead in the Family - what did you think?
I didn't love it. I'm going to read it again in a few weeks to see if it grows on me. I can't figure out why but I was disappointed that it didn't grab me as much as some of the earlier books did.

I'm with you. I thought it was weak. No development at all in her relationship with Eric, no good twist or surprises. I still read it super fast because I love the character and find the writing to be entertaining, but it wasn't a satisfying read.

i agree. it seemed light...not enough developement with eric and the bill story line seemed thrown in. i am wondering how much of the tv series has been affecting her ability to write her new stories.
i do feel they are setting up the next storyline to be about eric's struggle to get rid of victor and perhaps sookie's curiosity about becoming a vamp.

I could see this happening.
and perhaps sookie's curiosity about becoming a vamp.
Charlaine Harris has said in interviews Sookie will not become a vampire. But maybe that's just to throw people off.

I actually really enjoyed it. I'm sad I am finished with it.
I do think that it was a book where she introduced a lot of new story lines. Like with Sookie becoming a vamp..
I <3 <3 <3 Eric, so I liked that even though their relationship didn't necessarily progress, that they are content with each other.
Oh and she is setting up something to happen with Sam too, not sure what yet...
And Pam cracks me up! LOL! Cathy, you got my FB status the other day

I've always thought that Sookie is going to end up with Sam. She comments way too often on how easy it is to get along with him, and lately the comments on his looks have been getting stronger. Sookie even said Yum! when she was thinking about him in this book.

ETA: I'm hoping this is the end of all the Fae stuff, it has never really caught my interest. But I think we'll probably see Niall again. **Yawn**

I was a little disappointed with it. Pam is soo funny. I'm glad that Sookie & Eric are together. I feel like Bill was put in the book as an after thought. I raced trough it so I'm going to back and read it again.

I liked it. It was more of a character development story. Pam cracks me up. She is still my favorite character "F!ck a zombie!"

I heard all the bad things about it, and was a little apprehensive to read it, but I liked it. It certainly wasn't the best book of the series, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I definitely saw it as more of a transition book than anything else, but there were a few others in the series I felt were like that too, although I can't remember off the top of my head which ones.
Does anyone know when the next one will come out?

I really didn't like it. Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't read it. I was really disappointed that the "villain" in the novel was someone who we never met and didn't know existed. The fun of a mystery novel is guessing who done it.
