Anyone NOT get af with provera?
I have a question for you girls... I finished my second round of provera last saturday and af still has not shown up. The last time I was on it, I got af really lightly event hough I had not had anything for months before. The Dr. said it would be heavy, but it wasn't. I then was given clomid, but no mature follicles. I keep waiting for something to happen so that I can try a higher dose of clomid... and nothing?
I will call the Dr. on Tuesday, but I was just wondering if anyone had any words of advice before I talk to him. Thanks so much!

Re: Anyone NOT get af with provera?
thanks for the reply. I was only on clomid once (last month). . . the lowest dosage my Dr. would give... I can't remember at the moment.

Re: Anyone NOT get af with provera?
Hi, yes I've heard of women not getting AF after taking Provera but I've also heard that it can take up to a week to 10 days for AF to show up.
I've just finished my third cycle of Clomid. I started out slow too, 50 mg, I just finished 150 mg and I didnt get any follies either.

Re: Anyone NOT get af with provera?
My first time on Provera it took me over a week to get my period... I think 12 days. I'd have to check the calendar.
The next time it came faster.
Not sure if this applies to you but according to my RE and a few things I've read, women with PCOS are not the best responders to Clomid. Clomid doesn't solve the underlining problem of PCOS (insulin resistance) it just kicks your ovaries into overdrive. My new RE put me on Metformin (which lowers your insulin which is the problem) and Femara (like Clomid w/o many of the side effects of Clomid). I don't get the dryness on Femara. First cycle with Metformin I produced one follicle. Second cycle with both Metformin (1500mg) and Fe,mara for 5 days one follicle. We are now in the 2ww.
When I was on Clomid it took me until 150mg for 8 days, not 5 to produce one follicle and prednisone every night. I would not recommend prednisone. That was my previous RE and she didn't treat my individual problems (long story and I wouldn't recommend her for anyone with PCOS). Prednisone made me a bit nuts.
I know I went beyond your question but I hope it helps.

Re: Anyone NOT get af with provera?
Thanks for the info. Tomorrow will be day 10 after provera and still nothing... not even spotting. I'm so frustrated. My old Dr. wanted to put me on metformin, but with the "right" tests, my new Dr. found that I do have PCOS but not because of insulin resistence. So, we tried clomid once. I hope I can at least give it one more go and see if the course of action needs to change. I'm just wating for my body to do its thing!!! This sounds ridiculous... but... is it possible to ovulate without getting af? I feel like I do when I am ovuating... I think... it has been so long, really.
I'm so confused!!!!

Re: Anyone NOT get af with provera?
Allison it can take quite awhile for the progesterone to leave your system, it you are still taking the provera, you sometimes have to give it time after you finish it for AF to come. It's when there is a drop in progesterone levels ,that AF occurs.
Plus from what I remember, your dr, put you on provera very early on in your cycle and therefore, your lining may not have been that thick.
Futuremrs....same is true of you...since you have the symptoms of progesterone (sore boobs etc), ...I am sure your temps are still elevated, and the progesterone is still in your system.
Temping is a good way to see when Af may arrive...when you take provera, the temps will rise, as if you ovulated, and then they will usually fall, to indicate Af is coming. Many times it gives you a pseudo '2ww"

Re: Anyone NOT get af with provera?
Thanks so much for the info! I called my Dr. on tuesday and she said to call back if nothing by Saturday and if nothing at all they will run some bloodwork to see if I am anovulatory. I'm cranky... I am so new at this, but wish I knew what was up...
thanks again!
