Field Trips
Do these make any other parents nervous?? I know I am an overprotective worrywart.. but the idea of my child being in the care of someone else away from home just makes me nervous. Add to that the idea that he's going to be on a bus for an hour in cruddy weather and my stomach is KILLING me. Rob wanted to be a chaperone, but wasn't picked.
Anyone else a freak like me?

Re: Field Trips
I do get nervous, because our school district picks the WORST field trips and after being a chaperone on one trip, and seeing how others were just not paying attention

Re: Field Trips
I get nervous about it too.
When Nicholas was younger (kindergarten), I put a slip of paper in his pocket with our home phone number and our cell numbers . I told Nicholas that in the EXTREME case if he got separated from his class/ teacher, to find a security guard or mom with children and give them the information. He knew not to remove it from his pocket otherwise.
Now he knows this info, so no paper needed.
It helped ease my stress a bit.
Being a former teacher myself, I know how chaotic class trips can be so that made me stress even more.
He will be FINE. But we always do worry.

Re: Field Trips
I get very nervous and try to volunteer to go on as many as I can. I think big places like the Bronx Zoo scare me the most!

Re: Field Trips
Yes, I do...DS is in his last year of pre-k and I chaperone always...Hoping that I get picked when he has them in public school...
I myself got lost on a school trip at Sesame Place The worst part is, no-one realized I was missing for quite a while...I remember coming down the Big Bird slide and looking around frantically and saw no-one from our group...You would think one of my friends would have

Yes, which is why if I am not picked as a chaperone, my children do not go.

Re: Field Trips
Ugh.. I am just not going to feel any better until he is safe at home with me. He is actually at the Bronx Zoo today - so it's a BIG place and I am sooo nervous.

Re: Field Trips
I get nervous for each and every one.
Just recently my DS class went to Atlantis. His class does lottery chaperons and I couldn't go. I stayed by the phone all day and held my breath till I saw him come off that bus.
I don't know if I will ever stop worrying especially this trips that are far and in big places.

When we were at Disney would put luggage tags on their belt loops
I also heard you can tie a helium filled latex balloon to their belt loops also to spot them in a crowd.
These kids are gonna be scarred for life!
