I am worried I am going to burst into tears...
on the walk to pick up my DD from her last day in Pre-K this afternoon.
She had her little stepping up show and ceremony last night and I was pretty much fine with that, but for some reason her last day is really getting me emotional. I am truly worried I am going to start to cry on the way there and because I don't want to be seen crying, that's going make me cry even more. (Not that that already happened to me at the Dunkin Donuts drive-thru this morning or anything. ) And darn it, it's not even sunglasses weather! At least I have the pregnant belly going on so I do have a hormonal excuse.
Or do you think I'll actually be crying because it's my last day of relative peace and quiet for three months.
Ugh! So don't want to make that walk...

Re: I am worried I am going to burst into tears...
Today was Sarah's last day at her school too. Her graduation is on Friday.
Sarah has always given her first teacher, from the 2yo class, a hug every day when we are leaving. The teacher was crying today, it was really hard to keep it together.
ETA: I took a picture of her today standing on the same spot she was in the picture I took on her very first day there.

I can't believe how hard it's hitting me over here too, with my Kindergartner. They are doing so many things this last week or so, plus getting ready for their graduation ceremony next week....
And I was the one so ready for him to start K! Why is it hitting me now! ?

The emotions come and go for me. I think it's everyone lately bc I've been talking about this a lot - her on other threads and IRL. I feel a knot in my stomach like I am missing things or can't hang onto them enough. And I don't have the preggo hormones to blame

Kayleigh's last day is Monday. They aren't having a little graduation. I have class on Monday so tomorrow will be the last day that I bring her to & drop her off at pre-k. I already start to tear up when I think about it.

Re: I am worried I am going to burst into tears...
I am right there with ya....I use to laugh last year when everyone was so emotional about the kindergarten transition and didn't expect to get hit that hard. I didn't think I was that emotional of a person!!! Tomorrow is my son's last day before graduation and this whole week - I have been so sad for him. Last morning class, last science class, last art class, etc. I have tears in my eyes anytime I think about this whole transition. We talked about it today and the whole car ride he was chanting I want more school, I want more school. I know it is bothering him too. He really has made a tight bond with his friends and teachers..so hard. I had parent orientation last night and did great - no tears but felt a little emotional. I am so afraid of crying next week at graduation btu I can't see me not....lucky you have the hormone excuse!!

Re: I am worried I am going to burst into tears...
Um, I was hysterical on her FIRST day in September because I knew this day was coming! In fact I am tearing up at your post because I KNOW I am going to be hysterical. I have graduation next week, then their last day of school a week later...then she will have her FINAL day at the place she has spent the last, almost 5 years of her life in August....THEN there is the first day of kindergarten and the day after she will turn 5....
I need to buy some stock in Kleenex
Our babies aren't babies anymore!
ETA: screw it and wear sunglasses no matter what!

Re: I am worried I am going to burst into tears...
Well, I was right to worry...I barely held it together so as not to sob outright. I just about lost it when the TEACHER (who's been at the school for 32 years, mind you) broke down while dismissing them!
And then of course, I had to deal with the "graduate" who cried for just about 45 minutes STRAIGHT after dinner because she was going to miss Pre-K! Like mother, like daughter!
Hope those of you with little graduates make it through!
