Shoudl I take him to a nerologist?
Ds is 26 months and has been recieving ot, speech and special instructor since 17 months and for the last two months Prompt therapy as well. He has a speech delay and may or may not be apraxia. He has improved greatly with what he understands and knows but speech is slow going. Say about 18 words and two word sentenmce sof 'Momma out" or Momma Weee( to go on the swing) . He also sometimes not a lot walks on his toes. My mom thinks I should take him just to have him checke dout what do you thihk? All therpists say he is improving nicely, slowly but consistently.

No harm in having and E.I. psych. evaluate him. If not, then, on your own, maybe a pediatric neurologist. Once you do the evals. it will put your mind at ease.

ge the eval. can't hurt any. and its good to have things like that when you start dealing with the transition to CPSE. we just had our CPSE meeting. my dd has a speech delay. but the evaluators all kept mentioning possible Apraxia. (her EI ST doesn't think she has it) but she got approved for 2x per week Speech through CPSE... i was told if she has a diagnosis of apraxia, it owuld be almost formality, but they'd up her speech to 3 or 4x per week. i'm going for the appt. in 2 weeks and if we get the label, i can get her up to 3x per week which i would prefer. extra services will never hurt them.

My ds has apraxia. I know that an SLP who specializes in apraxia would be the one who would diagnosis. If it would put your mind at ease it couldn't hurt.

I think that if you have any feelings that dc might need more than they are getting always go for the eval. You can try talking to your coordinator first to see if you can set up another eval. If not I would consider a neurologist.
