Something disturbing
So today I saw two young girls walking two dogs. One dog had a muzzle on - and when the girl was walking past us - the dog starting acting all nutty - and she was like "don't mind him - he's crazy"
We then drove past them about 5 mins later - and the dog was really wild and hard for her to handle. He obviously did something for them to have to put a muzzle on him when they take him for walks.
Is that normal? I have never seen a dog with a muzzle on when going for a walk. (I actually have never seen a muzzle before and that was pretty scary....reminded me of Cape Fear!)

Re: Something disturbing
My dad's neighbor has a dog that has to have a muzzle. He's not a bad dog, but, unfortunately, he has nipped at a couple of people - I don't think he hurt them, but I know one was a cable guy and I guess the dog was protecting his property and just went for the guy. He's actualy basically a mush - but he's on the big side (we think he's a coon hound) so that can be a little intimidating. He's never been aggressive around me or the other neighbors, but I guess in those two instances, he was, so the judge told my dad's neighbor that he HAS to be muzzled when he's out, and sadly, the guy just thinks that the dog really won't be aggressive again, so on occasion, he lets him out w/o the muzzle. I'm afraid that one day it'll happen again and they will put the dog down.

Re: Something disturbing
I see it somtimes. The owners I am friendly with tell me that it's to keep them from eating things they shouldn't, or to keep them from nipping strangers (mainly kids) who get overly touchy.

Re: Something disturbing
I see it on ALOT of dogs around here.
it keeps them from nipping, eating bad things, barking crazily at other dogs, etc.
its quite common. better safe than sorry i guess.

Re: Something disturbing
Are you sure it wasn't a Haltie?
When we walk my parents dog we have to use one because she pulls so much... she looks like a vicious dog but the worst she would do would be to lick you to death
