Once twins are in school...?

Is there certain rules for multiples when they start school as far as if they can be in the same class or not? Is that something I would be able to request or is there already certain rules for them?

Re: Once twins are in school...?

Depends on the district and depends on the principal. Each school in my district differs.

I had to meet with the principal and state my case. He said he doesn't agree but will do what we want, but only for kindergarden, nothing later. The whole thing is kind of annoying in that they won't look at my kids relationship and situation as opposed to another set of twins. In their eyes they need to be seperated. They want them to be independant and make there own firends but they don't always look at the dynamic regarding the twins and take that into consideration.

My boys while in the same class room get a sense of relief from that and don't interact with each other in the class room. They have there own friedns in the same class and are noramlly apart the enitre time in preschool. Once they are speperated they focus on the seperation and can't concentrate. My boys don't also do well in new situations so a new school , riding the bus, longer days and being seperated would not be a good mix, they can only take one new thing at a time.

Others have had no issue and they keep them together. Depends on who you speak to.

I'm not a twin, but my brother is only 10 months older than me and we were in the same grade growing up. NEVER once were we in the same class. Way back when, my mom was a SAHM, didn't have a car, there were no school buses, and she had to walk me to and from K in the morning and then again in the afternoon with my brother. She said it was a huge pain and they wouldn't budge.

I guess it depends on the district. In the district I work for (in NC) they consider parent requests.
