Easy Poll: What type of school would you raise your children in
What's LIF without an easy poll from me? probally the same as it was before but I'm gonna continue a poll a day (cause I have nothing better to do at work )
with the growing issues of public schools, many people are doing private schools, home teaching and others... What do you think?

I prefer Catholic school, but DH feels that it is a waste, so we will see what the future holds.

Re: Easy Poll:
there is no way that we would be able to afford private school....and still pay for college....I just plan on being very active in my son's school work and activities

Re: Easy Poll:
I would LOVE to be able to put my child in private school
ESPECIALLY if i had to live in a not so nice area...
But what i find interesting here on LI...is that the best schools are NOT private!!!

Re: Easy Poll:
It depends on where I am living. If I live in the boroughs, then it would be Catholic since a lot of the public schools stink to say the least.
If I live in LI or NJ I would probably consider public.

Public. As a public school teacher I believe in public education and I will also be active in my children's learning in every way possible.

I'm a product of public school, and believe in the Long Island public school system. I plan to be an active parent both for my child and the school system to try and make my child's experience all that it should/can be.

Public School. FH went to private school and wishes he had the options that I did going to public school. We plan on living in Fairfax County, VA, which has a good school system, so they'll go there

Re: Easy Poll: What type of school would you raise your children in
As long as I live in the city of Chicago, my child will go to private or Catholic school. The public school system here has a lot of problems.
My MIL was a teacher and FIL a principal in the public schools but they were a lot different when they were teaching.
If we move to the suburbs then my kids will go to public school.

Re: Easy Poll: What type of school would you raise your children in
Private schools are so darn expensive, that I'm sure we'll give public schools a chance. If for some reason things aren't going smoothly in the public schools though, I would gladly switch over to private, regardless of the cost.

As long as I live in a decent area, public school. I'd rather save the tuition money for college. I'm a product of NYC public schools, and I turned out just fine.

I agree w/ Jax. Public if it's in a good area. Private if the school district isn't good.

Although I went to public schools (DH did not) I want my Son to go to Catholic Schools. Smaller classes are a big +

Re: Easy Poll: What type of school would you raise your children in
My daughter goes to public school and so far( she is in 1st grade) everything has been great. Private school is very expensive on top of the cost of living on the island I feel we would struggle to send them to private school.

Re: Easy Poll: What type of school would you raise your children in
I would prefer to raise my future children in Catholic Schools like I was, but DH doesn't really understand and also thinks it's a waste of money if there are good public schools. So we'll see what kind of school district we end up in.

Re: Easy Poll: What type of school would you raise your children in
I think it depens on where we live. If the public schools are good, then public school all the way. As a kid I was in all kidns fo schools...catholic, public, and independent. Public school afforded me the most opportunities, but on the other hand I wasn't "just a number" in private school, so there are advantages to both
