Need some career advice!
I'm having a tough time finding a teaching job. I'm trying to explore other options, but I'm not really sure what I'm qualified for.
I have my BA in History and Education with a minor in English
My MA is in Special Education
I have experience working as an Administrative Assistant in College Admissions for 3 years. I worked in Parks and Recreation for the Town of Hempstead for 8 years.
Any ideas what jobs I can try and look into? I really like working with people and being kept busy. I dont think I want to do sales or customer service though.
Thanks!

Re: Need some career advice!
Would you consider working for a human services agency?
A lot of them have day programs that have staff with a background in education.
Or something like an employment training program for the disabled?
If you are interested and if it's on LI, I can give you suggestions of agencies to try.

Yes- both sound like very good options for me. I would really appreciate it if you could give me some suggestions of agencies.
Thank you!

Re: Need some career advice!
insurance claims rep? My company seems to hire mostly women in their mid 20s and it seems like every 3 months I get an email announcing a new hire. Salary is around 40K to start, hours are 7 am-3 or 4 pm, sometimes 8-4 pm and lots of opportunities to advance. You can apply online through the company websites - ie GEICO, Liberty Mutual, Progressive, Travelers, eSurance....the list goes on and on..
hope this helps!

Off the top of my head:
YAI UCPN UCP Suffolk FREE Life's WORC ACLD RES TBI Services DDI AHRC
I know there are more..........I will post soon.
I don't know if you want to go into the city but there's also a ton more agencies in Manhattan + the boros.
Check out socialservice.com as well.
Once in awhile I see education-related kinds of jobs.
The key is to spin your resume to the positions they are looking for.
