Rejected from my old district
So I interviewed for a p/t math position in my old district last week. Seemed promising. Thought I did well on the interview...plus I knew a few people there and I worked there for 2 years.
I got my rejection letter today.
I just don't understand. How do I not even make it to the 2nd set of interviews? Even as a courtesy you would think I should make it to the 2nd round!
It is so discouraging to get letter after letter. The best letters are the ones you didn't even get called for an interview for.
I don't know what to do anymore. I know I am not the only one. It just really S U C K S because I left a great school in SC.
I am pretty confident I am a great teacher - but how many rejection letters can I take before it starts to eat you inside?

 I bet someone's relative needed a job. I once got a letter dated the day or the interview and my interview was at like 5:30P. I recieved the letter the day after the interview Pi$$ed me off that I wasted my time because obviously I was never even being considered.
Keep trying. I know it's so hard.

I am so sorry to hear that.
As aPP said, I am sure it is a relative. There are so few job in education right now, although it is hard, you should not take it personal.
While times have changed, many Principals are on vacation now and the last days in August is when they come back to find they have more $$ and hire..I hope this is what happens to you

That is horrible!
Some districts want to hire someone they already have working as a leave replacement or something but they still are required to go through the entire interview process anyway. It is such BS sometimes. I am so sorry!

I was just part of a team in my school inetrviewing for a spec. ed position and we had 300 applicants, narrowed down to 30 interviews and then 3 demo lessons...but in the end only 1 job so 299 people were rejected.
It's just not easy to get a job right now.

Yes, I understand that someone has to be rejected. The point of this is that I actually was a teacher in this district for 2 years in a different subject area but was excessed in my area. Some consideration to at least the 2nd round interview would have been nice considering 1) I am suppose to be coaching 2 sports there this year and 2) In the past, I did everything and anything asked of me plus more.
