WHere are my SMITHTOWN peeps?
I just found out that my girls are considered walkers and dont get a bus...(we are just shy of a mile from the school)
Supposedly there is a courtesy bus but I cant find any info about it...
Can anyone clue me in?
TIA

I am not in Smithtown but Jordan is a walker. My house is the cutoff of course! The past 3 years "Bussing for all" has passed in our budget, so she can take a bus. They send us a bus schedule and assignment. I am not sure if this is what you are talking about. You can find out by calling transportation. The number is usually on our school calendar.

According to my wacky neighbor her son has always had busing. I know Ive seen him get on and off the bus. I just wish she was more lucid so I could feel a bit better about our conversation.
From what I understand there is a bus. But walkers arent assigned to it...
Let's put it this way...it's a mile to school! They judge the distance by the entrace to the school...which is up a very long driveway then a football fields length to the actual school. There is no crossing guard across Lake Ave either. Not to mention no sidewalks for part of the walk..What the heck are they thinking?

Re: WHere are my SMITHTOWN peeps?
That is crazy, I would try to put them on the bus, but really call Transportation asap! If our budget did not pass my DD(from the age of 6) would be expected to cross Old Town Rd with NO crossing guard and then down another main road. So basically I would HAVE to drive her. Which I wind up doing 90% of the time anyway because she misses the bus
