How late are you? Maybe you tested too early. When I was preg. with Ryan I didn't get the BFP for a few days after AF was due. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Good - I hope AF stays away!!!!!!! ( fingers crossed) there still maybe hope

Wow! OK if I were you, I'd take another HPT .. maybe a digital this time. You might have tested too early last time and the hcg hormone wasn't showing up in your urine to give you a BFP ... had you tested in the AM or PM?
Not to get personal, but do you have regular cycles?? It could be you just ovulated late so you aren't "late" - but if not there is a good chance you might be PG

my cycles are usually 28-30 days. I am really trying HARD not to get my hopes up. it could be the change in weather too... anything can affect a cycle.
when I tested, it was around 8pm. is there a difference in the time of day?

yes there is! By the end of the day, you have 'peed' a lot (sorry TMI  ) and drank a lot of fluids, so your urine is more diluted.. it can often affect the accuracy of taking an HPT in the evening, because it cannot pick up on the low levels of 'pregnancy hormone' in your urine at that early stage..
I do know about not wanting to get hopes up - I tried to get PG for over 1 yr so I totally understand that. But still if you haven't gotten AF by tomorrow, test with FMU (first morning urine) and that'll definitely be more accurate..
