Blood Work after Miscarriage
So I had a full physical done yesterday and informed my PCP that I had a miscarriage in July. After he told me how great all my regular blood work was and how healthy I am, he informed me that he was a little concerned that I had a miscarriage. He ordered 14 more viles of blood to be tested. He only told me he was testing for "clotting issues" and to see if my HCG has gone down to 0. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT ELSE HE IS TESTING? TIA!
Anyone recommend an OBGYN that they are in love with? My PCP told me that my OB should have looked into this and done some blood work. TIA

I have a great OB that I just joined after a bad experience somewhere else. great Neck OBGYN, Dr. Rifkin did my D & C and I also saw Dr.Sadaty. They were both great.

I suffered an early miscarriage and my ob didn't do any bloodwork..I think maybe after more than one they'd be more inclined to I guess

I have heard they do testing if it happened more than once... and wouldn't your HCG level be down to 0 by now since you got your period?
I think your dr is just being extra careful which is a good thing... he is checking everything out just to make sure but I wouldn't worry.

I think it's actually super great that he is testing and testing for anything.
i never had a blood test... in the time i was pregnant or after the mc.....

i think its great he tested.
my first mc they only tested me 3 days after mc started and since numbers were going down didn't retest....
then i switched drs and the second mc the new dr tested me, and kept sending me back to the lab to keep repeating until the number hit 0 ..
ETA- the first dr was Hanauer, the second dr who i love is Michael Mesbah in garden city. dh thought he was pretty good too when we had our baby after the second mc

Dr Plancher (Garden city) checked my blood and talked to me for a while - It was my first (and hopefully only) miscarriage at 6 weeks.

Its common to check blood levels after a miscarriage but not always necessary. Not only hCG but also Progesterone is often looked at. A Thrombophelia profile is usually done after 2 miscarriages but not unreasonable to do after one.

I just had a m/c this past weekend...Monday morning just showed up to my Dr's office, and they took me in 1/2 hour. Took a few viles of blood. Checked my HGC levels, and progesterone levels... also having me come back every two days until my levels are at zero. North Shore Womens Health in Great Neck. They have 6 doctors, Ive seen three. Just saw Dr. Kuno...he was AMAZING...so, caring, and gentle and has called me a few times this week to see how I am doing! They are really great there! GL
