I have HAD it with NYC DOE

First off, I was working in NYC for 3 years getting paid incorrectly, sadly, too much so I am now repaying them back. According to them someone else's transcript was attached to mine so I was getting paid at a higher step. Not my fault, but of course I still have to repay it. I didnt realize until my 3rd year and I had to tell THEM. And it took them MONTHS to correct my salary (so i continued to be paid too much)

I had a baby in May. I went to the UFT maternity workshop. I was told that my remaining weeks continue after the summer. So if i used 4 weeks to the end of June I would have 8 weeks to use starting September. This would mean Id return around Nov 1. My payroll secretary says the 12w FMLA begins a new year in September so I start my 12 weeks September, making my return date around Dec 1. Thats great for me - but I think she is wrong, but this is how she filled out the paper work. We will see what happens. Im sure they will tell me like Oct 30 that I have to be at work Nov 1 and I will not have arrangements made.

Last (but never least with NYC DOE), they PAID ME YESTERDAY Im on UNPAID leave. Strange thing is that I wasnt paid on the 15th but was on the 30th???? Oh and I called my payroll secretary and she tells me just leave it there they will figure it out soon. YEAH OK!

Does anyone know who I should call? I really dont need to be getting paid and owing them MORE money.

Tell her to pull your direct deposit so NO MORE money goes in!!!! I am on unpaid leave as well for FMLA and the first September check went in but she pulled my direct deposit and the 2nd Sept check did not. They have yet to get the money out of there, BUT they will..... so don't spend it!

Try HR Connect (718) 935-4000. I called when I got terminated in the system and lost my benefits. I had to call twice, but I did get added back about a week after the second phone call.

I would definitely ask HR about cashing that check. It's a lot less painful to return it than to have your wages impacted for 6 checks once you return.

They can't do anything right. I was on grace in June but still got my full paychecks. They finally realized it in Sept so now with two kids in daycare I will be missing two paychecks.

With DC #1 They took me off payroll and when I went back to work never put me back on. I didn't get paid until Sept and I went back in May.

I'd call HR.

I had a great guy at the UFT help me but he was at the Queens UFT I think. Let me find his info. Are you in Queens.

My payroll secretary $ucked me royally when I returned to work. Never put that I returned to work. When I was on leave I waited weeks for my paper work. I kept calling her she told me it wasn't high on her priority list. I just love that we we got the bonus money she got it too! For WHAT??? She does NOTHING!

I will have to call HR on monday. I hope they handle this better and quicker than they handled correcting my salary when I was overpaid. Took 10 phone calls to finally get something done.
