Any ideas? I'm at a loss?????
We've had two dogs for 5yrs, one's a lab, the other is a mix.
The mix has seizure issues, he's on meds for it though, its pretty controlled.
The mix stays in a crate when we're out in case he has a seizure, plus he's more likely to chew stuff. The lab is free. They've been like this for 5yrs at our house, no problem.
Yesterday I come home, the mix pooped in his crate, it was all over him. DH had to clean everything out, him off etc.
Today, SAME THING?
W T H?? Any ideas? We fed him white rice last night in case of stomach issues?
HELP! We can't keep coming home to poop!

Re: Any ideas? I'm at a loss?????
Did you just start crating him or has been in a crate since you got him? I doubt the rice had anything to do with it. I too have two dogs (a yorkie and a toy poodle) My toy poodle also has seizures and I keep him crated to prevent any accidents (but also because he poops and pees on the floors) he has done that since we had him..the Yorkie is left out. I give the toy poodle 1tbsp of white rice every evening with his meds to keep him from getting diarrhea. He does fine..the white rice should only help him not hurt him ( unless you're giving him too much) Also, do you put butter or oil in the rice? If so, you shouldnt. Also, did he/she get walked at their regular time before being put in the crate?
ETA: Just re-read your post and see they're been like this for 5 years. My question I guess is 1-Did you introduce anything new to his diet? 2-Are you using butter/oil in the rice? 3- Did he get walked at his regular time? I suppose he could just been having some stomach upset...or it could be a different problem. I guess give it another day or so and see if the problem resolves itself.

Re: Any ideas? I'm at a loss?????
How many hours was he in the crate? Are you sure he had pooped that day before you put him in there?
Is it possible that he lost control of himself while having a seizure? I'd start with the vet to ask that question. I know he's on meds but it's possible he needs a different dosage as he gets older.
Other than that and treating it like an upset stomach, I'd go back to square 1 with housebreaking. It doesn't matter how long it's been since he's been trained. If it is a training matter, you go back to basics to fix the problem.

Re: Any ideas? I'm at a loss?????
Thanks...
I think his tummy is bothering him, don't know why though. The rice is plain white rice, nothing in it. He went to the bathroom before we left. I'll be home with him today so it should be better, at least for me to see how he's acting. I guess we'll see how today goes...I will be diligent about taking him out, but I don't think its a behavior thing. If it doesn't get better, we'll take him to the vet.
Thanks
