Question for BTDT moms who have had multiples after a single...

Have you found the twin are forced to be more patient?

I know everyone says that second or third babies are easier because they are contending with an older sibling.

But does this theory hold true for multiples? I am starting to freak about how I will handle my 2 year old plus twins.

Re: Question for BTDT moms who have had multiples after a single...

Yes, for the most part.

Landon was the type of baby who would never nap. I would have to hold him all day or he would scream. He was very high maintenance.

The twins are so different. Not only do they have to share me with eachother, they have big competition from their brother. Unlike Landon, they enjoy the swing which is a lifesaver. They are also content laying in a boppy or bouncy seat and having me talk to them... Landon needed to be held! Plus they are so used to it being noisy and they can nap through anything!

I don't want to make it sound too easy though. There are moments (a lot of them) when they are both screaming at once. You will have to learn how to feed them both at once, pick them both up, hold them both, etc. And nights are so hard. I was a zombie for the first 3 months. They only started STTN last week at 13 weeks old.

Another reason why I think they are "easier" is now I go with the flow when with Landon I was much more controlling.

I was prepared for it to be soooo bad based on comments from people - who really had no clue - but I was expecting the worst. I made it a point to get out of the house with all three starting when they were only a week old. People told me I would never leave the house again but we do. We go to playdates, the mall, parks, everywhere. Landon has been such a great helper and I am sure Ryan will be too. Chat Icon

Pretty much what Julie said!!!

The babies are much more content then DOminic was, but he never had to be. If he fussed I jut picked him up. They had to learn to entertain themselves and be more patient. And for the most part they are. There are days that are hard, and the beginning is a big adjustment for you and he older sibling. But it is not as bad as I was expecting.....at all!
I go out a lot. Stores, park, playdates etc. And now that the babies are 1 they are very happy to play on their own and can easily be entertained.
