PCOS??

Hi, I am new to this board. Went to the gyno yesterday and she thinks I have PCOS, had blood tests today and am waiting for results. However I have had many of the symptoms which I am confused why no doctor has put them all together until now. Since October when I went off the pill after 10 years and started TTC I have been diagnosed with diabetes, high cholesterol and have had such a hard time losing weight. My cycles range from 33-45 days with inconsistent CF and temps. I have no clue when or if I ovulate.

I am so looking forward to at least having an answer for all of this and doing something about it. Its nice that there are others out there to chat with.

Re: PCOS??

I don't have PCOS but other issues. I think you will find a lot of support and information from the ladies on here -- at least now you know what you are dealing with.

Good luck! Oh and I hope you have good insurance!

Re: PCOS??

Are the meds used for PCOS not usually covered by insurance? Are they very expensive?

Re: PCOS??

Hi,

I have PCOS. I'm currently taking Metformin and my insurance covers it. I'm not sure how expensive it is.

Re: PCOS??

I felt the same you did a few months ago. All this time, why couldnt a doctor point out that I have PCOS? I am the one who brought it up to the doctors.

I am now seeing a new RE. I actually have an appt. tomorrow and we are going to discuss protocol.

Which blood test are you getting done?

Make sure they check your TSH levels? I am hypothyroid. I was tested for autoantibodies for thyroid and tested + which means I am auto-immune to my own thyroid tissue.

Having autoimmune issues can be a reason for implantation failures. If you are not seeing a RE, I suggest you see a RE who advocates immune testing. There are also other panels of bloodwork for other auto-immune issues.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask or send me a FM.

Good Luck!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: PCOS??

Hi. I'm also on Metformin and this, or another drug you may take, should be covered by your insurance because it's not just a fertility issue. If you're already taking diabetes meds and they're covered, then you should be covered for this. It doesn't hurt to just call your insurance and ask about Metformin and see what they say.

It is very disconcerting to know you have a common, diagnosable condition and never have anyone tell you about it. Before I went on BC, I went to the doc for extremely long cycles and I had a sono that showed I had many cysts on my ovaries. Did anyone ever say anything? No. She just wrote me a prescription and said I was OK.

Re: PCOS??

Thank you for the support. The doctor ran a cbc, LH, TsH, FSH, lipids, blood sugar, insulin, DHEA, maybe some others (dont have the script anymore).
