Laid Off / Unemployment Benefits
I'm hoping someone can help me.
I was laid off yesterday (surprise!) and my HR person wasn't really helpful.
Can someone tell me what do I do now. She said COBRA info will be sent to me by Wednesday along with Unemployment info, is that right? Can I start the process sooner?
Anyone out there know what the next step is?

Go online and file for UE benes.
You will have one waiting week and then start to get checks. Not sure if they still use a debit card or if they just direct deposit checks.
They will go back to your employer to verify your termination and then verify what your benefit amount will be. Also, you will have to answer some questions. Sometimes you have to go for an orientation or meeting with a counselor at the actual office.
