How do you all keep your cats from knocking off your ornaments? Nothing is working!!

Re: cats and the christmas tree
we usually dont put ornaments low enough for miller to go at them
we also keep a squirt bottle around with water & squirt him when he tries to eat the tree or climb up it lol
after about 3 squirts he gets the idea & leaves the tree alone!

Re: cats and the christmas tree
squirt bottle isnt working I am at my wits end, seriously can't take this kitten stage anymore, she is a year and half and still like a kitten I can't do this I am losing my mind. My ornaments are breaking, I am moving them all over so she can't get them and guess what, now she just climbs to get them. My tree looks dumb and there are needles EVERYWHERE. She is eating the presents, tissue paper everywhere and pulls out the gifts if they are in gift bags. We can't leave our bedroom door open because she jumps on our dresser and knocks things over. She broke my antique hand mirror, that thing was so heavy too, just batted it off. she jumps on the kitchen counters, there is hair in my stove. I want to cry, it's 5:30 am and I am up because I woke up to the sound of ornaments crashing and now I'm on tree patrol, every time I leave the room she destroys something I can't take this

OMG thats horrible...
ok first thing we did was switch to all plastic ornaments.... then you can get one of those mats that make it uncomfortable to stand on...
place it under the tree. they will not want to hang out under there so they should stop bothering the tree...
or try SSSSSSCAT

Ornaments - look into getting plastic ones. I know you probably would prefer the glass as do I, but I dont think having a kitty and glass ornaments are gonna work.
Squirt bottle along with you making the tsst sound of the squirt bottle should work as long as your spraying her as soon as the wrong deed she is doing occurs. It is at the point know where my cats know the tssst sound and stop what they are doing.
As for the kitchen counters, this may sound silly but until they are trained we layed out aluminum foil on the counter top. Im not sure what it is about cats and aluminum foil but it kept them from going back on the counter top or any place they didnt belong.
If none of that works check out Dr Fosters and Smith for items where they are made to prevent cats going from going on or getting into things you dont want them on or in.
