more questions for girls who had a D&C
I went to get a second opinion yesterday and still no heartbeat. So I'm just going to get the misery over with on Friday and get a D&C.
Anyone know how long the recovery is? How long you have to wait to have sex (for pleasure not ttc)? Do you have to wait to start exercising normally?
BTW I can't thank everyone enough for how helpful you ladies have been through all of this

Re: more questions for girls who had a D&C
Physically I felt fine right after the procedure. I was up and walking out of the hospital within an hour of waking up. I was tired from the anesthesia though so I came home and went right to bed (8pm).
I was fine the next day- I never would have known I had anything done. I felt great. It wasn't a good thing though- I went right back to my normal activities and ended up overdoing it and bleeding a little bit too much.
Other than that- everything else is okay. I have days where I bleed and I'm VERY crampy, and other days where *physically* I feel great.
As for sex- they said no sex for 2wks. Also, no baths for 2 weeks either- or hot tubs. Basically no sitting/submerging yourself in water because it can cause an infection since your cervix is still dilated and open.
Activity wise- I was told 24hrs of no lifting and then 48hrs I could return to my normal daily activities. But again- take it easy. In my experience with the d&c, jumping right back into "life" wasn't so smart.
Good luck- my thoughts are with you

Re: more questions for girls who had a D&C
I had a D & C in August 2009. I feel fine after the procedure. I walk and did normal activities. MY OB recommended to wait 6 wks (for pleasure) and 3 cycles (if TTC)
For exercising, I waited 2 wks later .

Re: more questions for girls who had a D&C
4 weeks no sex, no baths, no swimming, etc.
no heavy lifting in the beginning - they told me be a couch potato for two days which i was.....
as far as cramps i didn't really have any...more like stingy sensations and weird pains....i had a lot of gas pains afterwards probably a reaction to anesthesia and pain medication and i was constipated (another side effect of pain medication)
bleeding was very little the first two days, next two days there was more...now it's light again....i can't wait for this part to be over b/c i hate seeing the blood and sitting in a pad...
exercise at least a week better to wait 2 weeks...anything that makes more blood flow can increase bleeding if you do it too soon so i am waiting at least 2 weeks, it's not worth ending up in the hospital again...
ETS: i had the d&c friday and today is the first time i did laundry, did some light cleaning, etc. i really took it easy the last few days just to be safe

that was the worst part for me too...
my situation was extremely different but the bleeding was what made it so much worse... i bled for a month...

Re: more questions for girls who had a D&C
I felt fine right after, a lil cramping the day of but nothing too crazy... I had some bleeding that day and then it stopped, no spotting or anything like that. No sex for 4 weeks, baths, pools, ect. I got AF about 5-6 weeks after procedure. Good Luck to you... if you have any other questions just ask

Re: more questions for girls who had a D&C
I am very sorry for what you are going through. I have been there twice myself. The actual procedure was not bad, you wake up feeling groggy and crampy. My instructions were no baths, tampons, douching or sex for 2 weeks after the procedure. I will say that my first AF after the D&C was painful, I usually don't get bad cramps with AF either.

Re: more questions for girls who had a D&C
I'm sorry for your loss. I had a d & c a few months ago. I actually went to work the next day but I would advise staying home and resting. I was told no lifting for 24 hours but after that I was good to go. I was told I could ttc after my first af. I had minimal cramping and bleeding so overall it wasn't that bad.

Re: more questions for girls who had a D&C
Anyone know how long the recovery is? Physically a few days. I stopped bleeding the day of,but took it easy for a few days after that.
How long you have to wait to have sex (for pleasure not ttc)? Doctor told me 2 weeks. I waited 1 days. It was too soon, my uterus ached afterwards ....
Do you have to wait to start exercising normally? I would wait 48 hours to make sure you are healed...

Re: more questions for girls who had a D&C
i woke up about 25 min after the surgery & pretty much walked out. Two day slater i had a slight fever & chills & then it went away. I was fine overall except i had one gush of blood after the D&C that i literally jumped into the shower mbecause i felt it coming on. Thank god. After that it was a total bleeding of about 7 days. After that i started to work out again & i was fine. 4weeks to the day i got my first AF. Also for bed sessions. Make sure you are healed inside. I would say give it two weeks. Good luck.
