Job Interview Insight Pls - long
I've been debating on and off for the last few months whether to try and find another job. My company is stable but lets just say there is a high turnover rate, usually for the same reason that I won't post online. I've been there more than 2.5 years.
I few months ago I interviewed at a place I loved but the position was contingent on them landing an account - great interview - but they didn't get the account. Now they're hiring again so we got in touch and I met with them yesterday. An industry friend who used to work there told me that he's heard there are lots of changes - staff decreased and the owner didn't have a very positive outlook on business. With that in mind I had my guard up throughout the interview, looking for clues on that. I found a few and my intuition is telling me to let this one go. BUT, they really liked me and said they would be in touch 'very soon' to meet again. They also asked me twice if this is a position I'd be interested in. I thought that was a weird question to ask an interviewee.
The company has an amazing reputation and I see a lot of internal growth opportunities which don't exist (I asked) at my company. However my company has its perks - flexible working hours for moms (I think we are going to TTC within the next year), stability, good vibe in my office, and I usually can leave work on time...in fact, it is encouraged! I never had that before. I do love the clients I'd have at this new place.
So my question for you is... if you were in my position, would you take a second meeting if asked? It's only a conversation. Or would you politely decline and listen to your intuition?
I should also say the last time I DIDNT listen to my gut I ended up miserable with the most awful boss.
Thanks for your insight, and sorry so long!

Re: Job Interview Insight Pls - long
I would probably meet with them, but honestly, I would stay put----especially if you plan to TTC.
There's a lot I do not like about my job, however, the fact that I have flexibility and can more or less come and go as I please is something so many places do not offer. It's probably one of the hugest benefits for me as a mom.
I've also taken an offer in the past which seemed TGTBT and ended up screwing myself.
I also know several people here on LI who ended up leaving to go to a new job, ended up getting preggers within the first year at their new place and their new place mysteriously came up with reasons to let them go.......and then they couldn't go back to the place they had stability. Just something to think about ;).

I'd probably meet with them just to feel them out some more. But listen to your gut-if something doesn't feel right it's probably not.

I would meet with them and be honest about your trepidations.
See what they have to say.
