I was going to recommend these as well.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. The whole series is amazing. Takes place in 18 th century Scotland and American colonies.

The Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follet. Takes place in England in the 1200s.

The Bronze Horseman, by Paullina Simons. Takes place in Russian during WWII.

The Kitchen House, by Kathleen Grissom. I'm not always a fan of historical fiction but I could not put this one down.
