Defective NookColor
The sound on my NookColor stopped working. I called B&N last week about it and the only thing they could do to fix it was to do a hard reset.
Ok, no prob. Until later that day when I realized the sound wasn't working again. So I did a hard reset on my own that fixed it, but then it stopped working AGAIN. Repeat 2 more times.
Then I was getting errors when I tried to open NookKids books, I got a different error. Something is definitely not right with this Nook!
So I call back and finally get a live person. They tell me to do a hard reset. This is after I tell her that I've done a hard reset FOUR times already. So she says ok so we'll just send you a refurbished model to replace it.
Huh say what? It's brand new, I only used it twice, I just got it for Christmas. BUT since DH bought it more than 14 days ago, it was already out of the return phase. I kinda lost my sh*t   I mean, this wasn't a $50 purchase and I had LITERALLY used it twice, both times of which I had a problem with it, so it was definitely defective. Well, needless to say, they are shipping me a brand new one   Can't wait to get it!!!

Good for you for sticking to your guns and getting a new one - you shouldn't be subjected to a refurbished one!

Hmmm... do they have a serial number that matches the box? Buy a new one and return the old one with the new receipt. Horrible, but so is that return policy.

You know, I was thinking to do something like this because seriously, what kind of crap is that? Thankfully I don't have to worry about it, but I'm not even positive it would have worked. The box doesn't have the serial #, but I had registered it, etc. so I'm not sure if it would work.

What I don't get, or appreciate, is why do companies replace a brand new defective item, with a refurbished one? Shouldn't they be sending a new one? What happened to good customer service? Mary
