Never...because it messes with my head. I feel like my weight fluctuates so often and if I see any gain, it causes me to freak out. I can usually just tell by the way my clothes fit if something is off

Re: How often do you weigh yourself
I have to be honest the diet that I am on really requires me to go to the doctor once every two weeks to weigh in but I haven't been doing that because of my work schedule.
I try to get on every other day just so that I can discipline myself to keep motivated.
I go on each morning around 9am (before I shower and get ready for work) - this is except Saturdays because I work earlier than during the weekdays.
I weigh myself after I use the bathroom in the morning as well- and I don't eat anything after 6pm in the evening either if I can avoid it- the most I have after 6pm is a cup of coffee or water.
What throws me off though is that time of the month - all that water gain can add like 2lbs on me.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself
I started weighing myself once a week at my pt's request. I've lost 6.5 pounds since mid November!

Re: How often do you weigh yourself
When I am trying to watch myself or if I notice I have gained (like around holidays or if clothes feel tighter) than usually once a day.
I think it depends on what will work best for each person - for me, the scale is helpful because I know that if I go up 5 pounds in Jan, it's not from muscle - it's from holiday eating! Seeing myself at the scary number motivates me to loose.
When not trying so hard, more like once a month or every few weeks just to make sure I'm staying in a healthy range for me.
There was a time in my life when I weighed in more than once a day and agree at that time it was unhealthy for me and became an obsession - crazy that I was 35 pounds lighter then I am now....I am medium build at my current weight so that was unhealthy!

NEVER.
I refuse to look at that #.
Muscle weighs more so in the #'s game that's always been high for me. It would always discourage me. So I stopped judging myself by the scale.
So, now it's just how things fit. ita on every word!

Never. I personally don't find it helpful. I know if I am eating healthy or not. That's what matters. I have been working out & eating healthy for about 20 years now and it took some time to get this attitude but it does come. I have learned the scale can be detrimental to your healthy lifestyle. I feel that if people see the number go up or stay the same they try to overcompensate by starving or working out more which often leads to binge eating and that is a vicious cycle. I feel often when people see the number go down they think that means its ok to go nuts and eat junk. I know some people say they find it motivating to see the number go down & it helps them stay on track but in general I feel it leads to obsessive behavior and unhealthy attitudes about food and one’s body. I know it’s not a popular opinion, but like I said it took me a looooong time to get here. It’s about health to me, the body you want comes as an awesome side effect to a healthy lifestyle. ita with this as well.... Between you and chelle, you took the words out of my mouth!

muscle is more dense than fat. Density plays a role in weight in comparison to size, but a pound (16 ounces, 454 grams) of fat weighs exactly the same as a pound of muscle- or a pound of anything else for that matter. Muscle tissue is more compact (more dense) than fatty tissue. Therefore, one cubic inch of muscle weighs more than one cubic inch of fat. This is mostly due to the water content of muscle. Fat cells are stored in adipose tissue, and fat is oil. Water naturally weighs more than oil (relative to this article). So a gallon of water (8.3 pounds) would weigh more than a gallon of oil.
Muscles contain intramuscular fat deposits, even in very lean persons. But speaking only of the two types of tissue, a person of the same height and girth etc. who was very muscular would weigh more than someone who had a much higher bodyfat percentage of the exact same dimensions.
This is really very interesting thanks for sharing! I had heard people say this before but never really understood why. Thanks

Re: How often do you weigh yourself
I also weigh myself usually once a week on a Monday morning after I go to the bathroom. This is just a keep in check kind of thing. It also motivates me if I enjoyed myself over the weekend to just watch what I'm eating and make smart choices. I don't belong to weight watchers but maybe this is the same idea of checking in with your body every week.
I also signed up a while ago for a website called fatsecret.com. Check it out. They email you a reminder every 2 weeks I believe that you need to "weigh in" and I find it helpful because I don't think about it, I don't obsess over it and then it seems like out of no where I get an email and it allows me to see my progress over a long period of time. That I am able to maintain weight loss not just day to day or week to week but for a long term period of time.
I am down 15 lbs. since Mar 09. Between a back injury and enjoying the newly wed life I had put on about 17 lbs since my wedding in Nov 08. I really wanted to commit to a healthy lifestyle to keep it off for good and to stop fluctuating so much.
This is just my strategy I'm sharing with you overall: everything in moderation portion control is big. Don't deprive yourself. Eat 5 small meals so you are never so hungry you devour a meal or snack or whatever it is! And def need to log in time working out if you want to see weight loss results. I personally believe diet and exercise go hand in hand with healthy lifestyle.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself
typically every day. In the morning.
my scale though is one lb high than ww. I like to see how I'm progressing.
although there are some busy days where I forget in the morning, and I don't weigh at night.
