After your sore from a workout
So I went to the gym Mon. and did circuits so worked all muscles, then Tues I took a kickboxing/step class and died lol. Right now most of me is fine except for my arms which I have a problem bending.
I know if I wait too long to go back to the gym I'll lost motivation but I also don't want to hurt myself.
So how long after your really sore from a workout do you go back to the gym?

Re: After your sore from a workout
I go back the next day and work on something that isn't sore.
I only take days off when I'm actually injured.

Re: After your sore from a workout
We call that “the DOMS” (delayed onset muscle soreness ). I work out consistently and I am still generally sore/stiff for a few days after my leg routine. I give my body time to recover so I generally won’t work out the same way every day, like one day I will do a kettlebell routine and the next day I might just run up and down flights of stairs and the next day I might just do bodyweight exercises or take a long walk. Just mix it up so you’re not overtraining those sore muscles.

Same here. Work something that doesn't hurt or do light cardio, something that won't exacerbate the problem, but I wouldn't skip it altogether.

Sometimes I will do something that I find easier for me like riding the bike - you can lower your speed/resistance to make it a light workout day but still keep in your routine of burning calories. You can also just do what you normally do cardio wise, at a slower pace but for a longer time so you end up covering the same distance (i.e. walk instead of run)

I don't go to the gym every day. I actually usually go every other day it gives my body that time to recover. I sometimes go back to back days and like everyone else said just do something different or only do cardio if I'm sore from weights etc.

I agree, the bike feels great on my hips if they're sore from running, also the elliptical is great for low impact cardio.
