planet fitness?
anyone go there? can you offer any insight? i would much rather World Gym in wantagh, but 69.00 per month is STUPID!

LOVE IT! I go to the one in Levittown. I really really like it. I like that no one looks at me funny  Its a gym that is cheap nice and people of all different shapes sizes and ages go to. If you are looking for a gym to build serious muscle this is not the gym for you though.

I went to the one in Carle Place for a few months and hated it. The parking was awful, it got VERY crowded and you'd have to wait alot for machines. I didn't like how there really wasn't any "open space", which I like for lunges, squats, and other excercises. It was a very young crowd...alot of kids. Not really my scene at all.

THis would be the one that i would join. i have heard such mixed things about it. i love classes and they don't have any. that's been my biggest reservation. plus no daycare. two very important things to me. but, for the price, who could complain??

I was sad about the classes. I don't have children so the daycare isn't an issue. I have never ever had to wait for a machine. They have 2 floors. Downstairs there is an open space for lunges etc. I usually go at night though so can't comment on if it's busy in the mornings or not. I always get a spot sometimes it's far but I'm at the gym so not bothered to walk a little  AGAIN I am overweight I'm just looking to lose weight not build muscle or run a marathon or anything

If you are looking for daycare and classes, I go to Syngery in Levittown (right down the block on Hempstead Turnpike). I pay $25/month and LOVE it there!! The hours are great, the staff is friendly, the classes and trainers are awesome.

LOVE IT! I go to the Riverhead one - its never crowded and has a an entire upstairs area thats sort of open where they have more free weights, balance balls etc. You get a lot for your money though there are no classes which is fine with me...

Do you feel like they have a ventilation problem at Synergy? I belonged to that gym when I was on LI and I always sweat like crazy there. When I visit my parents, I still use that gym and I feel like I sweat way more there then I do at PF. Synergy also gets pretty crowded - similar to the PF I go to.
I like PF, although I sometimes wish there were classes, but hey that is what you get for an economy gym. I am primarily using the treadmills and free weights anyways. The one I go to does get crowded between 4 and 5, but that is expected. People getting off of work and heading to the gym. In terms of being crowded, it is always the worst this time of year. In Feb, it will calm down again.

I haven't noticed any ventilation problem. Whenever I go its not crowded. It might get a little crowded around 4 but nothing compared to when I went to PF.

I go to World Gym in Wantagh and I also complain about the monthly dues but you know what it is by far IMO one of the best gyms on LI. It is clean it offers a ton of classes, free babysitting, pool etc... I have no plans on switching!
It is really a great gym!

i went to the planet fitness in astoria and didn't like it what so ever. it was small, didn't have many machines and was ALWAYS packed unless i wanted to work out at 2am
the price is amazing, but u get what you're paying for IMO.
