I belong to PF. There is a yearly fee (20) and a start up fee (59).
I am a black card member and thats is 20$ a month and a yearly 39$ fee. Totally worth it to me.

Re: Anyone familiar with Planet Fitness??
I belong to the one in Bayshore. I have the basic $10 a month membership. I joined before they opened so they waived the membership fee. There's a $20 renewal fee each year. No contract.
The $20/month membership is a year long contract and includes an unlimited guest pass (you can bring the same guest every time), unlimited tanning, free use of the electric massage chair and half price beverages.
From what I hear they only have the low end tanning beds, I don't do tanning beds anyway (which is why I didn't do the $20/month).
You can't use the tanning beds unless you have the premium membership.
There are no classes. I don't believe they have trainers available- but I've seen people come in with their own.
So far I love it there.

I also go to the one in bayshore with my DH. We have the $20 plan. I'm his guest. I belong to curves at $44 a month and no longer go (my contract is almost up)
PF has a circuit workout like curves but is so much better!

This is good to know...I was wondering how it compared! Sparkpeople has calorie counts for the curves circuit and for "other circuit training" I was wondering which would be more accurate (the "other" burns more calories)

Re: Anyone familiar with Planet Fitness??
My mom goes there with her friend. There is no catch. It's $59 down and $20 a month to the location they go to. My mom goes with her friend who is a member and she can bring a guest for only $10.00 a month. Not bad. I went to check it out one night with my mom. I thought it was pretty clean and they had many machines. No classes though, but if you don't mind that then it's all good. I would have signed up but I already am a member to two gyms..lol.

Yes, the one in Bayshore is the location my mom's friend goes to and she brings my mom along as a guest.

Re: Anyone familiar with Planet Fitness??
Okay so just curious because I saw a few people go to the one in Bay shore I thought I would ask. Do you go by yourself? I ask because I joined with a friend and she never wants to go so if I can find someone to go with and work out together that would help me out.
Anyone interested?

Re: Anyone familiar with Planet Fitness??
FH belongs there. There's no catch. I've worked out there with him a bunch of times because he has the "Black Card" membership and can bring a guest any time he wants. It's okay if you just need the basics - they have TONS of treadmills and elliptical machines so you'd never have to wait. And it's open 24 hours. It's not the right gym for me, though, and I'm happier to pay the extra money to go elsewhere. There are no classes or personal training. There is no space to work out with free weights or do abs - no exercise mats or space to lie down. And for some reason, they have the A/C on so low, it's been really uncomfortably hot every time I've tried to work out there. Plus, because of the low fees, you have lots of "casual" people, teenagers coming in jeans and text-messaging while they're on the weight machines. For me, I prefer a different workout environment. But FH is really happy there, and loves that it's so cheap when all he wants are treadmills and weight machines.
