Rash on dog?

So I woke up this morning and my pit bull, Lucy, has a rash on her side. It's spread out all over her torso, mostly on one side of her body. They are small bumps, less than 1/2" in size. They aren't clustered together, there's just a few here or there on her. She doesn't seem to be itchy, they aren't red, there's no pus. Chat Icon The only thing I could think of is an allergic reaction, but to what? She was in bed with us the whole night. Then I thought maybe bed bugs but DH or I don't have any bites and they didn't look like bites. It actually looks a lot like this photo and they said this is because of allergies.

Any rec's on what I can do for her? They suggest just toweling them off and benadryl. Any ideas what it might be from? There's nothing out of the ordinary in our house even if she DID get into the garbage or something.

TIA! Chat Icon

Hmm...looks like hives but not even itchy?

Poor baby. Def try some benadryl but I would call your vet for the dosage.

I would also give her a bath.

Yeah, she hasn't scratched at all. Chat Icon And she's usually a kind of itchy dog. Will do- thanks! Chat Icon

Re: Rash on dog?

Awww poor thing!

I would actually not give her a bath - sometimes the soap and hot water can irritate the skin more. My dog has very sensitive skin so we often use baby wipes (the super sensitive variety) to clean her off between baths.

I agree about the benadryl though. That is what helps my dog when she has rashes or is itchy!

Re: Rash on dog?

We wiped her down, didn't give even give her the benadryl (wanted to wait and speak to the vet for dosage, first) and they're already gone. Thanks again! Chat Icon

Unfortunately I've seen that on my AB before. Looks like she had an allergy to either something she ate or something enviornmental. The vet with probably give a steroid shot to bring down the welts. I would give Benadryl and go over anything new in the house....fragrances, carpet fresheners, laundry soap etc. Did you change her food or give her anything new to eat??

Nothing at all. It didn't develop until the morning but she didn't get up out of our bed the whole night and she's never had a reaction before. We did get a new fleece blanket like a week ago, but it's been washed and she's laid on it this week with no reaction before. She slept in our bed again last night and no hives today. Chat Icon

ETA: And the new blanket wasn't even in the room, it was out on the couch.
