Are you this type of fan?
A bandwagon jumper???
If I have one pet peeve of all pet peeves in sports, it's this.
When your team loses, let's say to go to the World Series or Super Bowl, do you root against the team that beat them?
Case in point -you're a Jets fan, so watching the Super Bowl, you were vehemently against the Steelers winning.
THEN you taunt all the Steelers fans if they lose. Hell, you even make your profile pic one of you wearing a cheesehead, or a Green Bay logo.
Classless. Lame. Hate that stuff.
For me, when my team is done, my season's over. I might have a preference over who will win (I would NEVER want the Red Sox to win for example ) but honestly, I stop caring. I have nothing invested in it.
I went into a serious war of words with someone who claims she's a Jets fan. She said go cry in your Terrible Towels on her FB page and it so ticked me off, so I tried to have fun with it (saying that at least we made it to the dance, blah blah), but I probably should've shut my mouth. My DH is so much better about that stuff- he just ignores it. But I hate that classless crap.
Thoughts?

Re: Are you this type of fan?
Bandwagoners are my biggest pet peeve. However, I am guilty of it when it comes to the Yankees.
And I deal with them alot in my family.
My dad and I are the only Jet fans in an all-Giant fan family. And we're Met fans.
So we take a lot of abuse. During the playoffs, all of my cousins (all Giant fans)were posting statuses rooting for the other team to beat us. As for me, once the Jets were out, I really didn't care. I was partial to GB, ONLY because it kind of stuck it to Favre, but that's it.
For baseball, I HATE HATE HATE the Yankees and the smugness of the fan base (present company excluded
In those cases, I do become a transplanted fan of whoever they are playing. And, I'm one of the only Met fans that does this, but if it's the Phillies and the Yankees - I root for the Phillies.
The way I see it, if the Phillies win a WS, it's a one day story in NY. If the Yankees win, it's 3 weeks of parades and celebrations and all that crap

I don't think I'm a bandwagon fan based on your definition.. because for the Superbowl I was totally against the Steelers, mainly because of Rothlesberger and pretty much "guaranteed" to win so regardless who they were playing against, I would have cheered for them.. and the fact that they beat the Jets, just gave me added ammo to not "like" them..

Re: Are you this type of fan?
i dont think its classless...
I rooted for Green Bay...
I dont watch Baseball if the Yankees, Mets or Cardinals arent in it... I dont root against the Mets as a Yankee fan either...
I watch the NHL Playoffs no matter what... and i absolutely will give some good natured ribbing if i know a fan of a team that lost... but its likely my relationship with that person that allows me to be able to do that...
maybe im different because i post on a sports message board where this is very common and ive gotten used to it...
some people can take it overboard...

I too rooted for the Phillies...I never ever root for the Yankees. The toughest decision I have to make is when the Yankees play the Braves!

you're not the only one. I could've written this word for word. My DH and I are Mets fans and rooted for Philly against the Yankees
No one outside of here seems to understand what its like living in NY being a Mets fan. We have to LIVE with those Yankee fans alll the time!

I was giddy when Cliff Lee turned down the Yankees, even though he ended up on the Phillies
